I've been into video games ever since I stumbled upon the original Sonic the Hedgehog on my uncle's Genesis, and into RPGs ever since my mind was blown after mistakenly buying Phantasy Star IV one sweltering summer day in the ye olde bygone days of my childhood. Around the same time, I discovered King's Quest VI, and my love of the intricate plots and strong storytelling found in adventures and RPGs was was set in stone.

I'm also very much into the music of games, and have always found that I can make it through a mediocre game and enjoy it as long as it has some good music to jam along with. Some of my favorite composers include Yasunori Mitsuda, Yoko Shimomura, Shoji Meguro, Yuzo Koshiro, and Yuki Kajiura-- to name a select few. I'm also into a little rock, and a whole lot of electronic music-- Daft Punk, Zircon, Deadmau5, and many others have been known to grace my iPod.

As my love of stories and language might suggest, I'm a big reader, and enjoy many writers like Haruki Murakami, Neil Gaiman, JK Rowling, George R.R. Martin, David Anthony Durham, and Cormac McCarthy, and frequently find myself agonize over whether or not to spend my free time gaming or reading.

I've spent time abroad in Japan, have a bachelor's in English, and am currently pursuing a master's in Japanese, and intend to become a professor. I love to write, and am always looking for new ways to make my voice heard.

I started writing for RPGFan in June of 2010, and since then I have had the pleasure of working closely with almost everyone on staff on our numerous features, write-ups, and podcast. And, If I might be permitted a bit of shameless self-promotion, my fellow editors are some of the most dedicated and passionate people I've had the good fortune to work with, and I couldn't be happier to be a part of this community.

Also, in case you didn't know, Rob does indeed hate fun.
