Conference Registration

How do I contact a "live" person for registration help and information?
Registration for GDC 2012 is now open. Please call (415) 947-6926 or (866) 535-8897 or email gdcregistration@ubm.com for help and information.
What is the cost of admission?
There are a number of different passes available for a variety of prices, depending on what parts of the GDC you want to see. For details about these passes and prices, visit our Passes & Prices page.
When can I register to attend the GDC 2012?
Registration for GDC 2012 is now open and run through dates of the conference (March 5-9).
I've just registered online, when will I receive my receipt and confirmation?
If you registered and paid online, the final page of the registration process is your receipt and confirmation. Please make certain to make a copy of your receipt for expense purposes as well as any follow-up with the GDC Registration Department. If you printed an invoice and submitted it with your check payment, we will email you a confirmation and receipt, once your registration is received and processed.

Online registration without payment does NOT secure the Alumni or Early registration discount. If you selected payment by check, please be aware that all check payments must be received by the Registration Department no later than Friday February 24, 2012 in order to apply the payment to your registration. If you are unable to meet this deadline, please pay by credit card by accessing your registration as a returning user and follow the prompts to pay with a credit card. Thank you.
Why do I have to create a unique log in and password for my registration?
For your privacy and protection we require anyone registering online to create a unique login for access to their registration. Having a login allows you online access to your receipt, pass selection and information about your registration.
What are the IGDA member discounts for GDC 2012 registration?
Please contact IGDA.org for more information on member discounts to GDC 2012.
I have forgotten my IGDA membership number, how can I obtain it?
You can obtain your membership number by contacting the IGDA via phone at (856) 423-2990 or email.

Please be aware that the IGDA is not related to the GDC Registration Department.
How do I register a Group?
To take advantage of our group discount, your group must consist of 10 or more attendees from the same company and they must be registered at the same time. Additional registrations from the same company added at a later date will not be entitled to the group discount unless they are submitted under the same terms & conditions described here:

Terms and conditions: The group discount of 10% is only valid off the current registration price, including early discount registrations for All Access Pass, Main Conference Pass, Summits & Tutorials, and Audio Passes. No other passes are entitled to the 10% discount—the Expo Pass and Independent Games Summit Pass are excluded from the group discount. Additional discounts, such as Alumni, Exhibitor or other special discounts are not combinable with the group discount.

When do I receive my badge?
Event badges will NOT be mailed in advance of the event, but can be collected on-site, please refer to the registration hours on your confirmation email. Short range "Touch 'N Go" RFID badges will be in use at GDC 2012.
I've registered for GDC and now need to make changes to my registration, how can I do this?
If you need to cancel your conference registration, you may do so for a full refund, less a $150.00 service charge until Friday, February 10, 2012. Attendees who register prior to or after the deadline date, who do not cancel in writing by the deadline date are liable for the pass cost and will be charged for the full registration fee. Sorry, no refunds are available for no-shows. If you are unable to attend the event, we recommend that you send a substitution in your place. Changes to registrations must be presented in written form.

Written requests for a downgraded pass must be received no later than Friday, February 10, 2012 for a full refund on the difference of registration fees between the value of the original and downgraded pass. Requests received after Friday, February 10, 2012 will not be accommodated. Upgrade pass requests must be submitted in writing and faxed to (415) 947-6011 along with payment information for the difference in value.

Where can I access GDC Proceedings (also known as "Speaker Presentations" prior to GDC 2004)?

Speaking at the GDC

I would like to speak at the conference. How do I submit a proposal?
The Call for Submissions for GDC 2012 Main Conference has closed. Please check the respective pages for further information.
Are there specific subjects that I should submit speaking proposals for?
Yes. The Call for Submissions form has an extensive list of topics that the GDC would like to cover. Please note that the Call for Submissions for GDC 2012 is now closed
When do I find out whether my speaking proposal for the 2012 conference was accepted?
Notifications for the main GDC 2012 and the GDC Summits have already been distributed.

Other Questions

Can I bring my child to the GDC?
There will not be any on-site child care services at the GDC. And due to safety concerns, no one under the age of 18 (including infants in strollers) will be permitted on the show floor at any time during the Game Developers Conference®.
Is there a location in the convention center where I can nurse in a private room?
Nursing mothers may find privacy in the nurse's office. These are located in all three halls (check general pages of show program for times):

• North Hall - east of the entrance to Hall D on the lower level, across from Room 124
Why can't I see the registration page on this site?
The registration portion of this site serves encrypted pages, and will not display on browsers with security settings set too low.

• In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, scroll to the bottom of the list, and make sure SSL 2.0 or 3.0 is enabled.
• In Netscape/Mozilla, go to Communicator > Tools > Security Info > Navigator, and make sure SSL 2.0 or 3.0 is enabled.

Americans with Disabilities Act - How can I request assistance?
If you require special assistance, auxiliary aids, interpreters or other reasonable accommodations while at the conference and/or expo, please contact Colleen Mickey at UBM TechWeb Game Network, producers of GDC 2012, at (415) 947-6348, at least four weeks prior to the event date.
How do I access the Internet at the GDC?
Wireless Access is available in the lobbies of the North and West Halls during the show. There is no technical support for the Wireless Access.
If I am an international attendee, do I need a visa to attend the conference?
Yes, international visitors will need a visa. After purchasing a conference pass, the attendee can submit a request for a letter of invitation to the conference.

Letters of invitation
Letters of Invitation are usually only required by foreigners who must obtain a VISA in order to attend the conference.
  • All persons who require a Letter of Invitation to attend the conference must be registered and paid in full.
  • Letters of Invitation will only be issued to the registrant and only after the registration is paid in full.
  • Letters of Invitation are only issued in the name of the registrant.
  • Additional documentation may be required in order to complete the letter of invitation and verify your payment. Failure to provide the requested documentation by the specified date may result in the fees previously paid being reversed or returned.

Are there volunteer opportunities at the GDC 2012?
