Kaskelot

Kaskelot, the flagship of the fleet, is one of the largest remaining wooden ships in commission.

Kaskelot is a 153 foot, three-masted Barque Double Topsail. Her sails make up 9500 square feet of canvas and she has a crew of 18.

Built in Svendborg, Denmark in 1948.
The flagship of the Square Sail Fleet.
Originally commissioned by the Royal Greenland Trading Company to supply the remote East Greenland coastal settlements, and subsequently as a fisheries support vessel in the Faroe Islands.
Square Sail purchased her in 1981 and totally re-designed and re-rigged her as the three-masted 19^th Century barque that she is today.
The name ‘Kaskelot’ is Danish for sperm whale.
She is one of the largest remaining wooden ships in commission.
