Mitt Romney Repeats Dubious Medicare Claim In Spanish-Language Ad
In an era of increasingly aggressive attempts to suppress voting, there are lots of important questions citizens and journalists should be asking in their communities. One question that's surprisingly easy to answer: How good is your local election board at making sure every vote is actually counted?
As long as conservatives believe they can win elections by changing the ground rules, the battle over voting rights will continue. And as long as conservatives are weaponizing the Constitution for political purposes, progressives must aggressively tell our own story about the Constitution.
Mitt Romney's doctrine of American exceptionalism is well known. What most Americans don't understand is the extent to which his Mormon faith informs that conviction.
It is not about a movie. The anti-Islam movie was just today's trigger in Libya, was just the most recent spark to a smoldering flame.
A few months ago, Sarah Palin, with her trademark sarcasm, asked Obama supporters, "How's that hopey changey stuff working out for ya?"
Violent reactions to any kind of art or thought, no matter how lame, are disgusting and unacceptable in decent society. Yet creating a film such as "Innocence of Muslims" is akin to shouting fire in the movie theatre.
Did powerful public officials approve the use of our tax money to hush up sexual harassment charges against Assemblyman Vito Lopez? Don't hold your breath waiting for the state ethics commission to get to the bottom of this mess.
I'd like to ask a few pointed questions of those who still think they're fighting the good fight by continuing to support this disastrous so-called war on so many peoples' private habits and behavior.
In the days ahead, as loud voices rise up to try to explain the motivations of his killers, or the skills of our leaders, or the reason for why patriotic Americans like Chris are giving their life to promote a better world, let's remember Chris' example and follow it.

It is election time again and as many of us use the moment in the teaching of government, political science, rhetoric, and history I hope we all remember what it means to be a teacher.
While the Republican convention may have strengthened Romney's position with the base, it did little to expand his coalition. The momentum from "You didn't build that" has been halted.
To continue on our current foreign policy course means more dead soldiers, more dead Foreign Service personnel, and more wasted resources. The rest of the world is willing to shed blood. It shouldn't be ours.
If we lower the price of labor and increased the price of its only substitute, things, we would employ more people and conserve natural resources. How? Eliminate payroll taxes and add equal new revenues by taxing things like materials, energy, land and pollution.
Super rapper Jay-Z and his recent comments regarding the Occupy movement are a great example of the unfortunate shift within the hip-hop culture from representing the poor and disenfranchised to essentially shunning them.
With one stroke of a magistrate's pen, these service men are being declared mentally ill, locked away against their will, and stripped of their constitutional rights.
In the 1988 campaign, both George H.W. Bush and Michael Dukakis emphasized child care. As the Romney and Obama campaigns now sprint towards November 6, the opportunity remains for them to discuss the child care needs of American families.
If the candidates for president will discuss the nation's top science issues, why won't the key members of Congress who lead the committees that deal with science policy?
Our Constitution is constantly bandied about, quoted, cited, and interpreted by every pundit from every media outlet and every political persuasion. Don't just take their word for it. What do you actually know about the Constitution? What do your children know about the Constitution?
