Job: Social Community Editor, Entertainment & Celebrity

OPEN POSITION: CMS Developer

The focus of the position would be on development of the core HuffPost CMS, which powers huffingtonpost.com and several other sites, displaying your work to millions of viewers daily. OPEN POSITION: LINUX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR, HUFFINGTON POST MEDIA GROUP

Location: New York City

We are seeking a talented system administrator to work on our team managing our web hosting infrastructure. You will be tasked with managing our entire hosting infrastructure across development and production environments. Ideal candidates will have a can-do attitude, passion for technology, and a penchant for security and expert-level system administration skills. You will be working with a small, dynamic and smart team that works hard and has a lot of fun.
Required Skills
Enterprise level Linux expert with experience in load-balanced web servers. We use CentOS here.
Web services, caching and load balancing expertise. Apache, memcache, nginx, varnish, Akamai, Redis.
Amazon EC2, S3 and most especially RightScale experience is a plus.
Git/Subversion.
Network & System Security. Enterprise level network/system security experience is a definite plus.
Automation Experience. We believe in automating tasks to make our work easier, and we'll want you to play a key role in helping us do that.
Written and verbal communication skills are very important in this environment.
Experience running and participating in projects with distributed teams.

The ideal candidate is someone that goes far beyond task work: you should be able to discover what needs to be done, figure out how to do it and get it done.
A strong plus includes Web development experience. You don't necessarily need to be able to hack HTML, PHP & Javascript to do this job, but if you do, so much the better.

This is a mid-level position; we're looking for somebody who has at least 4+ years of Linux system administration experience with high volume web sites. We are technologists and generalists here, and we look for more of the same, so a Computer Science educational background is a definite plus.

Develop and manage project timelines and project plans
Risk identification and management
Comfortable in a high-paced, shifting environment; ability to work with little structure; flexibility with juggling divergent tasks
Lead project planning and requirement grooming for team insuring requirements were clear enough enabling clear technical task breakdown, creating task plans.
Identify and mitigate project issues and risks
Regularly communicate status of projects and issues to the team
Work with distributed cross-functional teams across the globe
Play an active role in re-evaluating current processes and recommend and implement improvements
Solid experience in oral and written communication with a diversity of stakeholders, including senior management, business and sysadmin, users and developers.
