Anthony Kappes and Craig MacLean of Great Britain celebrate after winning the gold in the men's Individual B Sprint final on Day 4 of the London 2012 Paralympic Games at the Velodrome.

Kappes and MacLean bounced back from their Individual B 1km Time Trial disappointment on Day 3 - when two mechanical mishaps saw them fail to finish as team-mates Neil Fachie and Barney Storey won gold - with a dominant display in the Individual B Sprint, including a 2-0 final win over their compatriots to take the gold.

Kappes was pleased to finish the Games on a high as Britain won five gold, seven silver and three bronze medals to top the Track Cycling medal table ahead of China.

'You don't get many opportunities,' he said. 'Yesterday we blew it; it was not our fault, still we blew it nonetheless.

'Today was a chance to demonstrate what we can do and I can't complain.'

MacLean, who won Olympic Team Sprint silver in Sydney in 2000, added: 'It would've been nice to be celebrating the double, but I suppose we've redeemed ourselves a little bit. It's always nice to win.'

Kappes and his pilot MacLean were supreme throughout the competition, qualifying in a flying 200m world record of 10.050

In the women's Individual B Pursuit, world champions Catherine Walsh and Francine Meehan of Ireland met New Zealand's Phillipa Gray and Laura Thompson, who set a world record of 3:31.530 in qualifying, in the race for gold.

The Kiwi duo won in 3:32.243, with Walsh and Meehan taking silver in 3:36.360.

Aileen McGlynn and Helen Scott beat fellow Britons Lora Turnham and Fiona Duncan to bronze.

In the final Track action of the London 2012 Games, China's Liu Xinyang, Ji Xiaofei and Xie Hao won the Mixed C 1-5 Team Sprint in a world record of 49.454, with Britain second in 49.519, also beneath the previous best, while the USA took bronze.
