Choi, 21, beat her national team-mate Kim Han-Soo 8-0, while Jeong drew 2-2 with Portugal’s Jose Macedo before coming out on top in a tie-break and the duo will now be battling for more than gold when they square off in the final tomorrow afternoon.

On the all-Korean final, Jeong said: ‘I am the world and Korean number one and have been playing longer than Choi. I have got the hunger for the gold but no matter what happens, the winner will congratulate the loser.’

In the Mixed Individual - BC1 semi-finals, Great Britain’s David Smith beat Norway’s Roger Aandalen 5-2 to set up a gold-medal match against Thailand’s Pattaya Tadtong, who saw off Brazil’s Jose Carlos Chagas de Oliveira 5-2.

Tadtong was part of Thailand’s Mixed Team - BC1-2 quartet that won gold earlier in the Games, beating Smith and his side 18-1 in the semi-finals to leave the British on bronze.

Smith, 23, admits he is eager to gain revenge for that heavy defeat. He said: ‘I want to get some payback. It's going to be a good game. If I give my all and someone better comes along on the day, you've just got to clap your hands.’

World number two Yan Zhiqiang of China will look to go one better than the silver medal he won in the Mixed Team - BC1-2 event when he faces Brazil’s Maciel Sousa Santos in tomorrow’s Mixed Individual - BC2 final.

Yan saw off Jeong So-Yeong of the Republic of Korea 5-2 in his semi-final, while Santos recorded a 7-1 victory against China’s Zhong Kai.

China and Brazil will also square off in the final of the Mixed Individual - BC4 competition. Zheng Yuansen proved too good for Great Britain’s Stephen McGuire as he secured a comfortable 12-0 win and in an all-Brazilian semi-final, Dirceu Jose Pinto saw off Eliseu dos Santos 4-2.
