Gold success for Korea and Russia

The Republic of Korea claimed a gold medal in the women's Team Recurve - Open on the final day of Archery at London 2012.

Kim Ran Sook, Ko Hee Sook and Lee Hwa Sook claimed gold in the women's Team Recurve - Open.

The Korean team of Kim Ran Sook, Ko Hee Sook and Lee Hwa Sook defeated China - represented by Gao Fangxia, Xiao Yanhong and Yan Huilian - 199-193 in the final.

Iran, who were beaten by Korea in the semi-finals, finished with the bronze medal after a 188-184 victory over Italy.

Kim said: 'So far, we didn't have a gold medal in a Team competition. Before we came to London we promised ourselves to make history, and we did it.

'I want to thank everyone who helped me during my preparation for the Paralympics.'

In the men's competition, Korea were denied another gold when they were edged out 206-200 by Russia in the final.

Oleg Shestakov, who won the title alongside Timur Tuchinov and Mikhail Oyun, said afterwards: 'The next Paralympics, the next World Championships - it all starts all over again as soon as the flag goes down. We have to keep going and continue making our country proud.'

China defeated Host Nation Great Britain 206-193 to pick up bronze.
