We are committed to ensuring that there are good accessible transport options for all spectators travelling to the London 2012 Games. In recent years, many access improvements and service enhancements have been made to make London’s public transport network much easier for disabled people, older people and passengers travelling with children.
Venues
Accessible transport options for each venue are outlined on the venue pages. Please be aware that plans may change slightly if you are travelling to the same venue during the Olympic Games and then again during the Paralympic Games.
Accessible parking
At all London 2012 venues there is limited accessible parking – this must be booked in advance. You can also plan a journey to your allocated parking site using the spectator journey planner
Shuttle buses
Accessible shuttle services will be provided at many venues to transport spectators from the nearest stations to the venue itself. This services are available for disabled spectators and do not need to be pre-booked. Read the information about your venue for more details.
Spectator journey planner
The spectator journey planner includes options that allow you to request a journey with staff assistance at stations, stops and piers, and/or which is suitable for a wheelchair user or one that avoids the London Underground or has the fewest interchanges. To choose these features, click on ‘Further accessibility options’ in the spectator journey planner.

For further information, audits have been completed on key interchange stations across the London Underground, DLR, Tramlink, Manchester Metro and Newcastle Metro networks. These provide diagrams of routes through stations and information on available facilities
If you are travelling from further afield, the National Rail website has an interactive tool that enables you to plan a route through a station. To use Stations Made Easy, enter the station name and click on the ‘Stations Made Easy’ icon when you reach the station’s page. For further information on assistance and access at stations and on trains, please see the web pages at National Rail enquiries – disabled passengers. If you need to book passenger assistance on National Rail services, please do this at least 24 hours in advance of your journey.
Maps of accessible stations
London 2012 has created maps showing the accessible travel routes and stations within London and across the UK. The UK map and south-east England map show stations with step-free access and staff assistance available, and stations with staff assistance but not necessarily step-free access.
The London map shows levels of step-free facilities and staff assistance at stations across London.
Games coach services
London 2012 coaches will pick up from bus stops and bus stations throughout Great Britain. For information about the accessibility of particular stops please visit the Direct Enquiries website

Games park-and-ride services
Free accessible parking spaces are available for UK Blue Badge holders or members of an equivalent national scheme at our park-and-ride sites. To book these services, please visit the booking site, and to plan a journey to your allocated park-and-ride site use the spectator journey planner
River services
River services are an accessible form of transport. All piers are wheelchair accessible, with step-free routes from pier to boat. Most new river craft have dedicated wheelchair spaces.
Taxis
At all venues there are pick-up and drop-off areas for spectators arriving by taxi or licensed private hire vehicles. Further information on taxi accessibility – including a searchable list of operators with accessible vehicles for private hire vehicles – is available on the Transport for London website
Group travel
Travelling as a group to the Games will require extra planning, especially if members of your group have disabilities. Make sure you allow extra time as the transport network will be much busier than usual. Get information and tips for groups planning to travel to the Games
