Canada first competed in the Paralympic Games in 1968 and will be making their 12th appearance in 2012. Paralympics have twice been hosted in Canada - in 1978 in Toronto and in 2010 in Vancouver for the Paralympic Winter Games. Their most successful athlete is five-time Paralympian wheelchair track athlete Chantal PETIT-CLERC, who first competed in the Paralympic Games of 1992 and has won 21 medals, 14 of which are gold.
