Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran both enjoyed straight-sets victories in their men’s Sitting Volleyball semi-finals on Day 8 and will now square off for gold.

As the powerhouses of the men’s game, the two nations have lived up to their billing as the teams to beat at London 2012 and will now do battle for the second time in the tournament after Iran were 3-1 winners during the group stages.

Athens 2004 gold medallists Bosnia and Herzegovina reached their fourth consecutive Paralympic Games final thanks to a 25-19, 25-20, 25-14 victory over a Germany side who had won every game before today.

Safet Alibasic was the star man for the world number two-ranked side, whose coach Mirza Hrustemovic said: ‘It was not easy even though it looked easy. Germany were in it, but they were a bit nervous and their desire to win was maybe a bit too high and it put them off.'

On playing Iran in the final, he added: ‘The betting shops may say Iran are going to win, but we are looking to change that. We beat them in Athens, they beat us in Beijing, so maybe it is our turn again. I'd like that.’

Five-time Paralympic Games champions Iran beat Russia 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 in their semi-final and have lost just one set in their six matches at the Games so far.

They continued their fine form against the Russians, blocking and spiking powerfully on their way to victory, with Davood Alipourian, Sadegh Bigdeli and Seyedsaeid Ebrahimibaladezaei all scoring heavily for the world number ones.

Iran coach Hadi Rezaeigarkani is looking forward to the final, saying: ‘We just have to think of it as a new game and forget what's gone on before. I was always certain that we'd get to the final. They (Bosnia) are a very good team and worthy opponent - the result will take care of itself.’
