PlayStation Plus finally makes it’s way to the Vita

PS-Plus

What’s this?? Something actually coming to the PlayStation Vita and coming SOON?

Yes, it’s true. Another bit of news from Sony‘s keynote at TGS was that PS Vita owners will finally get some PlayStation Plus love this coming November. The service will be available for $17.99 for three months or $49.99 for the year. Existing PS Plus subscribers on the PS3 will get the Vita access for free and new Plus subscribers on the Vita will get access to the PS3 freebies.
In addition, the vita will also get access to cloud saving as well!

I personally can’t wait to see the free access I can get to all of the dozen of games on the Vita. I bet it’s going to be everything I already bought. God I hope I waited out on Escape Plan for a reason… Also, let’s see if Sony gets around to cycling out some of those freebies on the PS3 that have been clogging up the free game slots since frickin E3. Seriously. Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One was not a great game and it hasn’t warranted a slot for as many months as it has. A good half of those games haven’t changed at all since E3 and it’s irritating… “Instant Game Collection” my ass. Let’s get some damned variety, Sony!!

Looks like Sony is kicking off the Tokyo Game Show with some not-so-secret news. There have been image leaks and rumors of a newer, slimmer PlayStation 3 for a good long while now and it’s finally come time for Sony to spill the beans…

Co-founders of RPG developer Bioware, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have today confirmed their departure from the company.

Both of them seem quite intent on pursuing opportunities beyond the videogames industry and as such, don’t forsee a return to it.

More on this after the jump.

With the online multiplayer side of things hogging most of the attention shot in the direction of EA‘s Criterion Games developed Need for Speed: Most Wanted, I think its about time we heard something about the solo experience don’t you think?

EA obviously agree as today they’ve released a brand new, single-player focused trailer for their forthcoming blockbuster racer.  Take a look at it after the break.

Money to burn? Spend $1,200 on only your PC gaming case

If you’re looking for a sleek and envy-inducing way to house your very expensive hardware, then look no further than the Murderbox II. Most people can build a very powerful, high-end gaming PC for $1,200, and even then that’s a bit steep, with beefy builds ranging from $600-$800 depending on the desired performance. Hell, oftentimes you can purchase a solid gaming PC for that much.

But if you’re looking to be one of only 499 people in the world, you can throw down twelve hundred smackaroos to stuff all your computing goodies inside something that Rob Halford would ride out onto the stage if you slapped wheels on it. Gallery behind the cut.

UPDATE: Complete Rock Band Blitz goals, get some free DLC??

NickelbackSucks

UPDATE: The goal is officially up on the Rock Band World app and is to get 30 stars total on any songs from the Rock Band Blitz soundtrack! THAT’S IT! Play the Blitz songs, get 30 total stars, complete the goal, get free DLC!

The awesome dudes from Harmonix just announced in their Rock Band Livestream that one of the upcoming Rock Band Blitz goals available on the Rock Band World app on Facebook is going to reward players who achieve a certain number of stars in a goal with DLC codes for a free track on Rock Band. Combine that free track code with the previously mentioned half off sale and you can get yourself TWO songs just for playing a goal!

The goal was talked about to be a certain number of stars (possibly 30) out of songs from the Blitz in-game soundtrack and will be available on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. I’m sure more, official, details will be revealed tomorrow when the new goals go live, and I certainly hope this is a trend of more real world goals available through the Rock Band World app, but until then, I wanted to use this Nickelback header that I wasn’t able to use for the Rock Band Sale post.
Suck it, Colin. You made this happen!

Christmas comes early with NiGHTS HD in October

NiGHTS

It’s going to be an early Christmas present for SEGA fans as NiGHTS HD is releasing in early October and is going to have access to the incredibly hard to find Christmas NiGHTS expansion! Even better is that it’s only going to run you a ten spot! The game releases on October 2nd for PSN users for $9.99 and on October 5th on XBLA for 800 Microsoft Points.

In addition to NiGHTS finally joining the SEGA Heritage Collection, it will be accompanied by Sonic Adventure 2 on the same day for the same price! As an added extra, you can drop an extra $3/240 MSP and get the Battle Mode content that was added for the GameCube release!

Between those games and the recently released Jet Set Radio HD, things are really looking good for SEGA this fall season!
I should’ve said up. Looking UP. Like NiGHTS being up in the sky. Dammit.

Holy crap, over 1,100 Rock Band songs are on sale!!!

There’s been some rumblings and some chatter going on about some big Rock Band news and if this doesn’t qualify as freaking insane news, I don’t know what does. Over 1,100 songs that Harmonix has released officially for Rock Band are on sale on sale for 50% off. EVERY pre-Rock Band 3 song that was originally released for $1.99 is included in the sale.

The list of songs is all kinds of holy-s**t long, so typing it all up must’ve been a huge pain, but thankfully the wonderful people at Harmonix have a giant ass PDF of EVERY song and pack that is on sale. The sale is set to start up tomorrow on all three consoles with the release of this week’s regularly scheduled DLC, so if there is a song you’ve had your eye on, now is the time to grab it!

And don’t forget that all Rock Band DLC is compatible with both Rock Band 3 AND Rock Band Blitz, so there’s even more value out of those $1 songs now! There is no set time frame for how long the sale will last yet, so act quick!
And don’t buy Nickelback. Nickelback is horrible and bad and don’t buy them or we’re totally not BFFs anymore.

Review: Orc: Vengeance (iOS)

Genre: Action Adventure | Developer: Big Cave Games | Publisher:  Chillingo
Platform: iOS (iPhone 4 version tested) | Players: 1 | Rating: ESRB: T/ PEGI: 11+

Orc: Vengeance has the beginnings of something good, no, really, it does.  The game is represents an earnest stab (if you’ll excuse the pun) at the sort of hack and slashery that embedded Diablo in the hearts and minds of gamers everywhere.  The problem is, it never really gets past the ‘beginnings’ part and instead finds itself replicating a fraction (albeit pretty decently) of the experience, rather then aiming higher and trying to deliver more of what made the likes of Diablo and Torchlight so endearingly popular in the first place.

GameStop stops taking Premium Wii U reserves, the elderly weep

Yes. It is true. GameStop is no longer taking reserves for the $349.99 Premium Bundle for the Wii U online, nor is it taking preorders in store anymore as it has allegedly run out of their preorder reserve in only two days! Another store follwing suit is Best Buy, yet both stores (for now) are still offering the $299.99 Basic Bundle of the Wii U. Looks like for now, your best bet is to keep your eyes peeled to the Toys R Us website in the hopes that you’ll be able to snag a preorder before the system launches on November 18th! Or, you know, get stuck with the crappy Basic Wii U package with less memory and no game and other extras…
So much for people saying the Wii U is doomed and won’t sell! Looks like Grandma is gonna be pissed when she can’t get her Nintendos fix.

The internet sleuths have done it again! Just a day after Nintendo revealed the “Launch Window” game lineup for the Wii U, which revealed the games planned for release between launch and March, it looks like more information about the actual launch DAY games is known. The folks over at Game Usagi report that Nintendo has updated their site to show the release dates for many of the upcoming games and a surprising number of 22 games have November 18th listed as their release date. Obvious games include New Super Mario Bros. U and Mass Effect 3, but thank the heavens above that Game Party Champions also apparently made the cut!
