Managing Your Kindle Subscriptions

Starting a Kindle Subscription

To start a new Kindle subscription to a magazine, newspaper, or blog from the Kindle Store at Amazon.com, click the "Subscribe now with 1-Click" button. All subscriptions include at least a 14-day free trial. You can cancel at any time during your free trial, and you will not be charged. If you do not cancel within the trial period, your subscription will continue at the regular monthly price using the payment method we have on record for you. You are eligible for only one free trial per periodical. If the current issue is available for purchase without a subscription, you'll be presented with that option as well.

Items Available Via Subscription

Subscriptions to the Kindle edition of magazines, newspapers, and blogs are available for most Kindle devices and supported Kindle reading applications. There are some differences in availability.

Note: Kindle subscription content is currently available for Kindle for Android and Kindle for iPhone/iPad/iPod touch reading applications.

Magazines and newspapers in text view

Most Kindle subscriptions are available in text view. Text view allows you to navigate articles easily with the same reading experience as Kindle books.

Magazines in page view

Many magazines are available in page view for supported Kindle devices and Kindle reading applications only. In page view, magazines look just like the pages of the printed edition of the magazine. You can flip through the magazine in either portrait or landscape mode.

Interactive newspaper and magazine apps

You'll also see newspaper and magazine apps in the Kindle Store. Subscriptions are available for supported Android devices, including Kindle Fire, through the Amazon Appstore to customers in the U.S. Learn more about getting started with the Amazon Appstore.

Enriched newspaper editions

The enriched edition of Kindle newspapers includes all images provided by the publisher and can be downloaded via Wi-Fi to your Kindle.

You can still access your Kindle newspaper subscription via a 3G connection, but this version may have a restricted number of images.

Enriched newspaper editions are not available on Kindle 1st Generation and Kindle 2nd Generation devices. Kindle newspapers delivered to supported Kindle reading applications always include all images provided by the publisher.

Special access for some Kindle newspaper subscribers

Your subscription to the Kindle edition of The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal also grants you additional access to these publications. Learn more about special access for Kindle subscribers.

Blogs

When you subcribe to your favorite blog through your Kindle device, it will display as a single entry, like books. When you sync your device to check for new items, your Kindle will download the complete feed so you can read your blogs offline.

Blogs are available for U.S. and UK customers. Blog subscriptions are not available on Kindle Fire, but may be accessed through the Pulse app in Apps or the Amazon Silk web browser.

Delivery of Subscriptions

Frequency of delivery

Kindle subscription content will be automatically delivered to your Kindle device or supported Kindle reading application as soon as it is published in digital format. To automatically receive your subscription content, your device must be within the wireless service area and be connected wirelessly.

To transfer a subscription for delivery of future issues from one Kindle device or app to another, see Transferring Kindle subscriptions.

Check the product detail page in the Kindle Store for information about frequency of delivery.

Delivery outside the wireless service area

If you aren't able to connect wirelessly or are traveling internationally, your subscriptions cannot be delivered automatically. However, any Kindle content you purchase on Amazon.com, including recent issues of subscriptions, is accessible through Manage Your Kindle. Files can be downloaded to a computer and then transferred to your Kindle device via the USB connection.

For detailed information about transferring content to your Kindle device via USB and managing your Kindle newspaper and magazine apps, click on your device or Kindle reading application in the More Information section.
