Catholic Family Fun

a new book to encourage and inspire -- and a giveaway

Just in time for summer, a new book by Sarah Reinhard wants to encourage you and inspire you and help you calm your bad self down.

Catholic Family Fun is filled with ideas that will help families have adventures together and help kids learn to pass the time without a screen in front of their faces. All of this with faith at the core. As Sarah says in her book introduction, “faith and fun are not exclusive concepts.”

We know that, right? But it’s important to be reminded, and this book is a wonderful source to help you integrate the two—to have fun with your family while sneaking in little bits of faith at the same time.

Here’s one example of how the book works. In the chapter “Places to Go” Sarah suggests a few family outings, including the Zoo or the Library. And then, in the “Faith Angle” section, gives ideas on how to add a Catholic angle to that outing (if that’s what you’re wanting to do). I love her suggestion for the Zoo, to pick a few saints and find the animals that are historically associated with them. Or go horseback riding, and then discuss the difference between a horse and a donkey—and what it meant for Jesus to ride in on the smaller of the two.

Those are just a few ideas. The book is filled with them. I don’t mean to gush (I’m not getting paid to do so!), but I was just so pleasantly surprised by how handy and useful this book really is. I have older boys and I can still see getting a lot of ideas for the whole family.

Because I know you will enjoy this book as much as I have, we’re giving you a chance to win a copy! Enter in the comments section and we’ll pick a winner Wednesday afternoon!
