Healing for Sexual Wounds

In my twenties when I heard the statistic that 1 in 4 women had experienced some form of abuse, I assumed that was feminist propaganda.
Today, after years of retreat work and speaking to women about their spiritual lives, I believe it.
Here’s a new book I’ve not read yet, but which seems to address a sensitive topic in a beautiful way.
Dawn Eden, author of The Thrill of the Chaste, has just released... READ MORE
Mad after Mass?
Posted by Lisa Hendey in Faith on Monday, June 18, 2012
I’d like to start this column by asking you to pray for me. On my “to do” list for this week is attending the sacrament of reconciliation. So before you recommend that as a remedy for my poor attitude, know that I agree with you and that I’m working on it…
Without going into any of the details of what happened, I’d like to share with you that I left church on Saturday night after our vigil Mass feeling... READ MORE
An Act of Courage—And Mercy
Posted by Rebecca Teti in Faith on Friday, May 25, 2012
Did you catch “the Crescat’s” sad and beautiful story of her post-abortion experience?
You owe it to yourself to read it.
I’m sure the post must be of God, since it accomplishes a minor miracle: the comments make one proud, rather than ashamed, to be a Christian!
Read through them and let anyone fearing to confess sin see the love and mercy that awaits not only from Christ himself, but from his Church. That’s what Christians are really like—in spite of what you may see in the com-boxes when we are debating in the abstract.
Thank you, Katrina Fernandez, for your bold confession.
And for this follow-up post filled with resources for women who have experienced the trauma of abortion.

My dwelling shall be with them; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. – Ez. 37:27
If you could sit down and have a dinner conversation with any one person in history who would it be? I believe the most common answer is Jesus Christ. Why? Because not only is He the most influential man in history, He is God. God – who dwelt among His people for 33 years. Men witnessed... READ MORE

When Mom is Sick ...
Posted by Robyn Lee in Family on Monday, January 11, 2010
If you follow Danielle Bean on facebook and twitter (like I do), you would know that she was feeling under the weather last week. I called Danielle the other night to ask how she was feeling. As we chatted I recalled the times growing up when my mom was sick.
Everything seemed to fall apart when mom was sick. Even as a kid I recognized that things weren’t quite right without mom. “What do you mean... READ MORE
'Be Opened'

And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech; and they besought him to lay his hand upon him. And taking him aside from the multitude privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue; and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to him, “Eph’phatha,” that is, “Be opened.” And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly.
—Mark 7:32-35
Open ours ears too Lord. Help us hear Your voice.
Sacrifice and Healing

At Mass on Sunday I see one of my college classmates with his wife. They’ve been married just two weeks.
He holds the door for her and shepherds her into the pew as if he were guarding something precious and valuable. Their visible love is touching.
I don’t see any other newlyweds at Mass. But as I pray and look up at the huge crucifix that stands over our sanctuary, it occurs to me to look for... READ MORE
Overcome With Amazement

And when he had entered, he said to them, “Why do you make a tumult and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside, and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was. Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Tal’itha cu’mi”; which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” And immediately the girl got up and walked ... and they were immediately overcome with amazement.
—Mark 5:39-42
Jesus, heal us too. Wake our sleeping hearts and prepare us to do Your work while we are alive.
Your Sins Are Forgiven

And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “My son, your sins are forgiven.”
—Mark 2:3-5
Lord, we need Your healing. Help us to use whatever means necessary to attain it.
