A new closet for $7.99

Since our marriage in 1980, Bill and I have lived in 8 different homes. Only once did we have the luxury of a walk-in closet. Because both our budgets and our architectural whims run to vintage farmhouses, we’ve often had to share some very small closets. That’s the case in our current home as well, where our garments have hung in a mere 3 and one half foot space. True, there is a large hall closet where some of the overflow goes, joining the famlies’ winter coats and overflow from our children, who also share similarly small bedroom closets with siblings. (and one child who has no closet at all in his room.) And all the off-season clothing gets stored in Rubbermaid tubs which go in the barn. (mice can’t chew through these.)

Although we’ve lived here for eight years, something was keeping me from getting one of those coated-wire organizers to give us an extra hanging rack. At one point I tried “Cascade Hangers” but these only created an illusion of more space. The clothes were just squashed in a different way, and it was hard to see my stuff when I was trying to create an outfit.

Then last week, the 2X Closet Organizer caught my eye.I saw that it was adjustable, and would enable us to leave some space at one end of the closet for my long dresses. Best of all, no drilling or screws required! So I bit, reasoning that if we didn’t like it, we could take it back to the store.
After a week of delay, our Closet 2x (as seen on TV!) was put up in five minutes. Our 3.5 feet of space is now a solid 6 feet. The new bar hangs from the old, top bar,not from swinging chains, but on firm wire bars.  We can adjust the new hanging bar to any width should the ratio of long to short items change. I love the way I can see all my clothes at a glance. There’s actually some space on the bar between hangers now. I no longer have to shove my husband’s clothes to one side in order to get at mine.

Ugh. This post sounds like a commercial, doesn’t it? Well, I can’t help sharing something that accomplishes so much for so little money.

Hey Daria, where’s the link? I’m looking for some new closet solutions for my children’s closets.

You had me at “$7.99”, Daria.  Now where’s the link, darnit?! grin

Sorry ladies. I’m having lost of trouble posting links here these last few days. But you can go on amazon and search “2x closet as seen on TV” and find it easily.

I feel your pain!  My house has three closets.  Three.  That’s it.  And out of the three, only one is a decent size (the one in my son’s room).  We hang our coats on a coatrack and on hooks in the basement stairwell.  It’s the curse of loving old homes.

Thank you!  Answered prayer for my 15-year-old

That space between clothes won’t last long. Clothes multiply to fill up space.
