NBN satellite ground station to be built at Ceduna

Ceduna in South Australia has been announced as the location for another satellite ground station for the National Broadband Network (NBN).
The ground station will help facilitate the NBN’s long-term satellite service and is expected to be operational by 2015.
The satellite ground station will provide the NBN to towns such as Chinta, Koonibba, Athenna and Goode in South Australia.
NBN Co is constructing 10 satellite ground stations around Australia and will provide the NBN at speeds of up to 12Mbps.
Satellite ground stations have also previously been announced for Geeveston, Tasmania; Bourke in NSW; and Wolumla, near Merimbula on the South Coast of NSW.
An Interim Satellite Service is currently providing the NBN in some areas, with speeds up to 6/1Mbps.
Construction for the NBN has already commenced or been completed on round 27,100 premises in South Australia. Around 327,300 premises will have commenced or completed construction of the NBN in South Australia by 2015.
