They had come together, bringing with them a combined half century of experience in video games media, to do one thing: start...

Polygon and Vox Media are proud to present the teaser trailer for 'Press Reset: The story of Polygon,' a documentary miniseries

Polygon

Often times, stories come and go on game sites without a sense of permanence or a proper archive. Especially so when you're crashing on another site's couch while building your own. This is our attempt to change that -- a collection of all the in-depth, research-based feature stories we've been doing about games for The Verge while preparing for Polygon to launch.

'Transformers: Fall of Cybertron' review: wheels of steel

fall of cybertron hero

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is easily the best thing to happen to the property since, well, Transformers: War for Cybertron.

War for Cybertron pulled off a surprising feat for an off-the-radar licensed title, nailing the shape-shifting dynamic of said robots in disguise and using it to make a shooter that felt different from everything around it. It was fast, it was violent, and it sold Transformers like no other game ever had.

Ignoring 2011's disastrous Dark of the Moon — and really, let's do that — Fall of Cybertron marks High Moon's second crack at the Transformers prequel universe it created, and it has managed an impressive second act. The fundamentals present in War for Cybertron have returned (minus one surprising omission) but High Moon has gone several steps further. By consistently adding new quirks and gameplay...

Transformers like Grimlock and Bruticus sell a new sense of scale in Fall of Cybertron.

If you're an Xbox 360 owner and somehow haven't picked up a Kinect yet, now's the time — Microsoft just dropped the price of its motion-tracking peripheral to $109.99 in the US. That's a nice drop from the $149.99 that the Kinect cost previously (and still sells for on the Microsoft Store, at least for the moment). As for those not in the US,...

Japan Review Check: Devil Summoner, Spec Ops, Dirt

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers

A recap of the most interesting games coming out next week in Japan, courtesy of the reviews section in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine:

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers (8/9/7/8, 32/40 points): Atlus' 3DS remake of the classic 3D dungeon-crawling RPG they first released for the Sega Saturn in 1997 was pretty well received, although everyone agreed it was more of a port than a major upgrade. "I can't deny that this game is looking old-fashioned by this point," said one reviewer, "but the...

Roccat's Power-Grid in action

ROCCAT Power-Grid

Roccat's Power-Grid is a free app that turns your iPhone into a touchscreen LCD display for your PC.

The idea, the peripheral makers say, is to leverage your phone to create a customizable display that can be used to monitor your PC hardware in real time or create hot keys for the games you play.

We had a chance to meet up with the peripheral maker at Gamescom to get our first look at how the software works in person, including a glimpse of...
