Arcade Games: The death of a genre.

I read an article published in one of many blogs or websites of video games, which is on the Internet. I was struck by the theme "The death of l arcade genre," now I keep hearing about the possible death of consoles, with the arrival of new services, such as games Cloud, possibility it will take to get to consolidate and has only just begun. people like John Carmack says that the video consoles will remain a niche for people looking for an extreme gaming experience, something like music lovers who buy an expensive stereo, and not settle for a lower-middle-end or medium-high.

The report of opinion, talking about the disappearance of arcade games, a set of fast action games and immediate game featuring short, about 10 to 15 minutes. Designed to provide quick and direct diversion, without complications and without pretensions.

The author does not take into account the many titles that have appeared, published in the platform, digital distribution, such as XBox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, including: Bionic Commando Rearmed, Viewtiful Joe, Sonic 4: Episode 2, Sine Mora Hard Corp Uprising, or some physical format, such as Marvel Vs Capcom 3, New Super Mario Bros. Ultimate Ghost'n Goblins for PSP, Raiden III, one of the polygonal side scrolling Castelvania PS2 or Shaterd Against Soldier, for same video console. Although played well and are very similar to coming out on recreational arcades during the 1980s and 1990s.

Curiously enough, says the beat em ups have been replaced by Hatch'n Slash. But looking on wikipedia, I see older games as Astinax, Ninja Spirit, Dungeons & Dragons, are Hatch'n Slash. Even the website of World-Rom emulator MAME, talks about Sengoku 3, made by Noise Factory for SNK's Neo Geo video game console, is a Hatch'n Slash and not a Beat em up, as I thought.
