ROLE OVERVIEW

Criterion Games demands a world class team of developers. To be a part of this talented team you need to be passionate about games as well as skilled in your chosen profession. You need to know what matters to consumers and maximise that to the best effect.

Software engineers (programmers) are an essential part of the team. They bring the vision of the artists and designers to life. They design and write the computer code that runs and controls the game, incorporating and adapting any ready made code libraries and writing custom code as needed. Programmers deal with ever more complex problems including working on creating realistic Artificial Intelligence; believable Physics; delivering a smooth online gaming experience. Programmers also test the code, fix bugs, and develop customised tools for use by other members of the development team. Due to the complexities of game development, engineers tend to specialise in specific areas of programming.

The successful candidate, mentored by a senior engineer, will be working with creative people to establish technical requirements for features of a world-class video game. They will then be responsible for developing, testing and iterating those features to final quality.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Successful candidates will have a good degree (or equivalent) in computer science, maths or another related subject as well as good A-Level and GCSE grades in Maths and/or physics.

We are looking for an all round junior programmer with experience in:

- C++

- C#

After that any experience in the following is an advantage (in order of value):

- Direct 3D / Open GL

- Windows Presentation Foundation / Windows Forms

- LAMP / Sockets / Networking

- Javascript / Ajax / Flash
