This music comes in the battle with Culex, who was apparently called Crystaler in the Japanese version of the game. The first two themes are lifted directly from the FF4 soundtrack, except they're looped twice on the SMRPG soundtrack. The third song is a simple version of the Final Fantasy prelude that I believe was created specifically for this game, but if I had to choose one, it sounds most like the Prelude found on disc 2 of the FF5 soundtrack.

Front/back

Includes the main vocal songs from FF8 through FFX-2. The tracklist appears to have been taken in part from the official CD singles that were released for those vocal songs, but it doesn't have all of the songs that were on the Eyes On Me single.

Front/back Disc

Includes all the songs from the 3 CDs in the FFX-2 Vocal Collection, Yuna, Rikku, and Paine. 12 songs total, including the karaokes. The picture of the front of the CD that you see in the scan is actually the obi, which covers the entire front; the actual front CD cover is different. The liner notes simply take the content from each of the FFX-2 Vocal Collection CDs and put it all together into one massive foldout. So on one side are the lyrics in Japanese (kana), pictures and profiles of the singers, and on the other side are the pinups of Yuna, Rikku and Paine. The only thing the liner notes are missing are the info regarding the DVDs that were included in the original Japanese releases.

The tracklist has some typos in the Japanese; for instance, in the Kero-chan song, the katakana for "re" is used instead of the hiragana for "shi." Considering that those two characters look similar, I"m not surprised that someone in Taiwan got it wrong. Anyway, the FF songs are: 1. Melodies of Life (Japanese version): FF9 main theme 2. This 2-disc set has all the songs on the MoL single, plus some other FF9 songs, on Disc A. Disc B has all the songs from the FF 1987-1994 CD. The Disc A tracklist has a few bad typos whenever they kept (or tried to keep) the original Japanese. The rest have been translated to English, some of them pretty badly. Also, the songs are wrong -- for example, track 8 says "Fight," but it's not any of the battle music...the music is actually "Vamo' alla flamenco." Also, track 13 is actually "Rufus' welcoming ceremony" from FF7, the remixed version that appeared on the FF9 Soundtrack Plus. I'm not even going to TRY to identify what the other songs are really supposed to be. For a close-up scan of the back cover tracklist, click here. The fold-out liner notes have the tracklist; the Japanese and English lyrics to MoL; lyrics to "Galway no sora"; scans of the stickers that came with the MoL single; and the tracklist from the MoL single, including the short profile of Emiko Shiratori. It makes me suspect that they just copied everything they could from the MoL single. Also comes with survey card.

Comes in a larger plastic case. This 2-disc set has a big FF9 logo above the MoL title. Disc 1 is the music CD and has the exact same 20 songs as the Wisdom Records' version listed above, errors, funny translations and all. Disc 2 is a VCD, which I can't view so I can't tell what's on it.

Comes with slipcase and spine card. On the front of the slipcase is a collage of images from the various FF CDs. Disc 1 has selected music from FF8 and FF9; disc 2 has selected music from FF5-7; and disc 3 has a mixture of music from the other FF CDs, mainly from FF 1987-1994.

• This is a pretty impressive bootleg collecting music from all nine games, spanning five discs. It has the by-now familiar FF9 group picture on the front. The ads I've seen say it comes with an "octagon holder." It also includes several remixes under the heading "Final Fantasy Dance Mix" from the F.F. Mix CD.

• Prior to its release, CD Japan said it would have a new version of "Suteki da ne," the theme song of Final Fantasy X. However, it does NOT have such a song; Nobuo Uematsu did write music for one of the songs, but other than that, there seems to be no FF connection. Unless "Suteki" is a hidden track and I haven't found it.
