Another Nicholas Sparks slushy gets the soft-focus treatment, as Iraq-based US Marine Logan Thibault (Zac Efron, buffed and frowny to denote masculinity) dodges death by plucking the photo of a mystery girl (Taylor Schilling) from the war-torn desert and makes it his de-mob mission to find her.
Which, as this is based on a bestselling Sparks novel, he surely does.

Though sappy, insubstantial and crammed with the usual nonsensical coincidence, Louisiana is lensed attractively, Efron pulls off a borderline stalker with surface charm and fans of the formula will be fulfilled.
It’s no Notebook, mind.
