First trailer for Stallone's Bullet To The head: watch now

"I'm a people person"

The release of The Expendables 2 appears to have piqued studio interest in gnarled old dudes punching their way through a series of hoary old action cliches, with the trailer for Arnie's The Last Stand swiftly being followed by our first look at Sly Stallone's Bullet To The Head.

Stallone stars as a New Orleans hitman on the brink of retirement when his partner is shot dead on a job. Despite his daughter's protestations, Stallone tools up for what he promises will be one last job, with a young Asian cop (Sung Kang) coming along for the ride.

So just to clarify, that's a pair of bickering badasses, mismatched by both age and race, heading out on one final mission to avenge a dead partner. It's like the Expendables of action movie tropes!

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

While the new Expendables film might raise a few guilty chuckles, this just looks weary, with Sly growling his way through some hideously scripted "banter" before returning to safer territory by blowing some shit up. You know the drill.

Directed by Walter Hill and adapted from the comic-book of the same name, Bullet To The Head co-stars Christian Slater, Jason Momoa and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and will open in the UK on 1 February 2013.

I have to say the action staging looked pretty impressive - old school Walter Hill. Nice to have him back. The Last Stand is promising too; check out the director's previous work. We have a lot to be optimistic about.

Should be called "Plugs To The Head", where did that hair line come from? This trailer is such a throw back I'm amazed someone didnt put their back out launching it. The ironic thing is that even the early nineties this sort of tripe would have gone straight to video but thanks to this weird old guy action nostalgia craze it gets a cinema release.

"I was born in Florida!" OH AAHAHAH classic. Looks like balls. The action scenes DO look good, but that's not much excuse for a script that looks as if it's going to make me want to bash my head against a wall.
