New Star Wars 1313 video is certainly the trailer you're looking for

Brand new footage of LucasArts' underworld blaster in action

Details of LucasArts' upcoming action-adventure game Star Wars 1313 have generally been thin on the ground. Today, a new trailer has been released which features in-game footage of cutscenes and gameplay sequences.

The combat looks like a fairly standard cover based shooting affair: if you saw it across a room, you might mistake it for Mass Effect 3 or a futuristic Gears of War. The graphics, however, are a different story, and look to be way ahead of anything we've seen on our beloved console to date.

The game runs on a heavily modified version on Unreal Engine 3, and the eye candy that is has produced has led to speculation that Star Wars 1313 will release on the next generation of consoles. Whether these rumours prove correct or not we'll have to wait and see, but whatever happens it's safe to say that the franchise has never looked so beautiful.

Star Wars 1313 will provide a grittier look at the Star Wars universe and takes place on Coruscant's level 1313 underworld. What do you think of the trailer?

  1. Wow looks fantastic, good old Unreal engine again.Don't mind if it is a bit Gearsy,ME 3 if it is Star Wars.We are overdue a fantastic SW game.

  2. I was a little disappointed when this game was first announced as I was hoping for a new Battlefront or Rogue Squadron. If not one of those at least a Star Wars Jedi type game and not some average 'humanoid' type game. I also thought it would be quite a generic third person shooter (although it could still be so in terms of game mechanics) but I must say I am impressed with the visual look. I hope it has a great story line to match those visuals. I also hope it has something that sets itself apart from other third person shooters although I could still get it if not as it looks so good and may have a great story!

  3. I really hope this game does really well I need a new star wars not too fussed about it being a cover shooter but it will just have to have a great story to match

  4. Should be awesome.

  5. While it would be nice to have a game that rhymes with "mattlebrunt lee", hopefully this will fill that empty void. :(

  6. Hmm, normally a video of a badger crapping to the star wars theme would get me giddy, being a typically ridiculous and over top fanboy, but this is just not pushing any of my SW buttons at all... I hear 'Coruscant' as well as a few familiar sound effects, but little else. It doesn't have to have lightsabers jumping around everywhere, there is a certainly a world away from the Jedi/Sith, but a little music or something to help me 'feel' it would be nice?

Graphically yeah it looks great, but the gameplay bits look a little scripted/corridor shooter based, maybe like ME3 without the good stuff? Time will tell of course but i'm not exactly brewing hand shandy's over this. Yet.

  7. Anyone who thinks this anything but next gen is kidding themselves.....

  8. Hopefully they have a real emphasis on being a bounty hunter in this game for example taking up bounties like in Red Dead Redemption. That would be very interesting.

  9. So long as they have no comic relief characters, unless you get to terminate them. Whysa yousa shootin meesa in the kneesa-caps, okey-day?

Oh, and keep that lucas fellow away from any dialog writing. It's as if they gave a pen to a 6 year old moron then asked him to write a script whilst hitting him over the head with a crowbar until he goes cross eyed. You're so beautiful...I'm only beautiful because I love you...what the hell?

  10. I liked Jar Jar, he's better than a bunch teddy bears. In fact I actually prefer the new movies than the stupidly entitled 4, 5 and 6 ones, some stupid sod doesn't know of maths.

BLASPHEMY!!!! Where's my pitchfork and burning torch? I feel an enraged mob coming on.

Yeah, but Jar Jar Binks makes the Ewoks look like... f*cking Shaft!

Spaced was cool :D Can't believe it's been 11 years since it finished.

  14. I must say I was very disappointed by the Phantom Menace - especially JarJar as he really cheapened the whole experience and only seemed to be in the movie to appeal to the 3 year olds.

I actually saw the original Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope at the cinema when it was first released and went on to watch the next 2 episodes too. I was really excited to see they were making Episodes 1-3 and went to the cinema to see the phantom Menace and JarJar really ruined it for me. I know he is often compared to the Ewoks but the Ewoks were not as goofy or clown like or plain idiotic and irritating as JarJar. After that I never saw the next 2 episodes at the cinema. I still cringe at the thought of that irritating clown.

Anyway I am glad that this game is more Adult orientated so irritating clowns will NOT be in it!

  15. I'm not going to get into a prequels debate, because there aren't enough hours in the day.

As for the game, providing it's good I'll be happy. I enjoyed Force Unleashed 2 even though it was a bit naff so something better than Force Unleashed 1 would be very welcome.

  16. I'm looking forward to this. I come from a generation (slightly) before the in-rush of Jedi. The original Dark Forces, Rebel Assault, th PC Rogue Squadron. I mean, yeah, playing as a Jedi is cool, but the first time I did that was Phantom Menace on theoriginal Playstation. KoTOR still ranks as one of my favourite games of all time. But playing BF2, I never go as the Jedi classes except by accident. So a Star Wars game with noJedi could be a very interesting prospect indeed.

On the subject of comic relief characters, I think they have a place, so long as they are not annoying or badly written.

Maybe FU2 (which I actually enjoyed until the end) will be the Phantom Menace, because the prewuels could only improve from then. Could hardly get any worse...
