Walking Dead Episode 3 release date still down for August

But not necessarily this Wednesday

Lee Everett's journey across undead America will continue shortly, as Telltale Games' Walking Dead Episode 3 nears final approval on Xbox Live. I've yet to play Episode 2, myself, so if you're about to inflict some mega-spoiler on that there comments thread, don't.

"In July, we let everyone know that we were hard at work on Episode Three - Long Road Ahead, and our aim has been to have it ready towards the middle of August," the developer wrote on its blog this weekend.

"Some of you may have thought this meant a hard date of August 15th, but we wanted to be as clear as we could to let you know the latest news on the release date. The team has finished play-testing and tuning, and we're nearing final submission to our partners for certification on digital platforms."

Telltale has also released a video exploring the decisions players made in Episode 2. Contains major plot reveals, obvs. Which is your favourite Walking Dead episode so far?

  1. Good news can't wait for episode three. Not that bothered if it isn't this week at least it hasn't taken as long as for part two.Plus i will have Sleeping Dogs before the end of the week to tide me over. :D

  2. Don't know how you're all doing it, i can't watch a TV show until i have them all as i hate waiting. Playing a game with a storyline like this is supposed to have and being drip-fed the rest of it with no guarantees on release dates would push me over the edge! I want to play this but i've got to wait until they're all released first! :)

Heard a rumour they're out/coming out on iOS too though and will be cheaper than XBL?! Getting harder and harder to justify buying anything XBL related when it's consistently undercut by Steam, Android/iOS, tis my only real gripe

    >Hmm, maybe i just need to grow up and get some self control?<

No I don't think it's just you. I'm the same. Fairly self controlled I don't have even minor ocd or anything like that, but taped all of game of thrones and walking dead to watch closer together as you don't forget things. That was one of the minor possible gripes with mass effect, playing the 2nd or 3rd games and seeing characters you knew were in previous games but couldn't remember. I'll be waiting until all these are out. Look good though.

  4. Thing is i will be playing all of them again when they are all released. But because you can make different choices on all the episodes means there is more than one reason to play through them.I don't have the best of memories but i can remember most of the choices i have made so far.Plus it even tells you at the end of the episode.

  5. The problem with playing them all at once when all 5 are released is that - that would mean playing through 1 long ten hour game - the majority of which is dialogue/cutscenes - with a tone thats constantly harsh and full of dread.

To be honest - ive just finished playing episode 2 myself - was so impressed with how its all coming together i went back to play both 1 and 2 back to back today - but once i got past the first episode i really needed a break.

Its pretty overwhelming to play for over 2 hours at a time. - SERIOUSLY - theres only so much dread i can handle - 2 hours at a time is perfect for what it is.

ALl i want now is for Telltale to get the rights to make similar game versions of tv shows like Oz, Sons of Anarchy and The Wire

What i noticed in playing the 1st episode through a second time is that regardless of how i played it thr 1st time through - it turned out pretty similar the 1st time -

    SPOILER -

If you choose to save the character B instead of A while on the farm - make the opposite choice playing it again - and the out come is exactly the same.

I hope it plays out far differently later on with the next few episodes but from what i can see - the choices you make are pretty much smoke and mirrors. The dialogue mighyt be different and the game might tell you that so and so remembers/notices you - but the game itself wont change.

I hope it changes with the later episodes like i say - but as it stands now with just the 2 episdoe released - the illusion of choice is just that - an illusion.

  6. I am wondering if it might make more difference later on.Things seem like they might be a bit more of an impact from the choices you make in part two.Only played through it once though and reckon it might have more to do with the characters anyway as in some will hate/like you more as the game goes on.

  7. Comabob, an Oz game like walking dead would be worth the MP. Choosing your faction would be something that would have to be thrown in.

I know what you mean, kind of like the Alan wake episodes, I wouldn't do more than 1 at a time. But would prefer to do maybe 2-3 episodes a week rather than do one then wait a month etc. I do think episodic release can be a good thing in general though, people are certainly more willing to buy the first bit for cheap to see if they like it.

Yeh but they would have to make your character for an Oz game a mixed race character so you get to choose which faction to join -

    it would be awesome
