Beating the path: seven most promising new IPs

Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Arcade's freshest faces

The established blockbusters are making some intriguing moves of late, with Assassin's Creed going all Master and Commander, Halo 4 trying its arm at classes, and Borderlands 2 toying with the suggestion that female characters don't have to be supermodels. But at the end of the day - and it is, by amazing coincidence, the end of the day - you can't beat a bona fide brand new game when it comes to raising eyebrows.

The unveiling of Capcom's Remember Me earlier this week (think Devil May Cry meets Inception) got us thinking about some of the other newcomers we're keenest to play. There they are below, awaiting your love. Feel free to enlarge (or reduce) the list. If you're more interested in known quantities, check out the 10 best Xbox 360 games of 2012 so far.

Lococycle

All we know about Lococycle right now is that it's got a bike that's also a weapon that's also a mouth-watering scoop of WipEout-ish gadgetry. Well, that's not all we know. We know it's the work of Twisted Pixel, creators of the much-loved 'Splosion Man series and the slightly-less-loved Gunstringer. If it's true to form, this new Xbox Live Arcade effort should break the fourth wall about as often as it blows something up. Perhaps they could combine the two practices somehow.

  1. Isn't Anarchy Reigns a sort-of sequel to a Wii game?

  2. Anarchy Reigns's release outside of Japan is in limbo at the moment. If Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is a success then we'll probably get AR, otherwise it's dicey. Sad, because I loved Bayonetta and Madworld (the Wii game AR is sort of a sequel of  ).

  3. They say the date is March next year, I hope it comes out over here, was really looking forward to it.

  4. Since Revengeance is slated for February, my comment was mostly right.

  5. Watch Dog does it for me, game looks amazing...

  6. If Overstrike is handled with the same sortof humour as the trailer, I reckon it could be pretty decent

  7. Overstrike and Watch Dogs are the two I am most interested in. Destiny as an outside chance - just because it is Bungie and I am interested to see what they do but as for the others I have little to no interest in.

Ascend - looks like it could be Xbox's Gods of War (and I am not a fan of that), Lococycle - could be a Tron type thing, Anarchy Reigns looks like a fighting game (which I can't stand) so it looks like a lot of these have no interest to me.

I am surprised that 'Remember Me' isn't mentioned or Respawns game when Bungies has no information yet but was included!
