  1. Aftermath is december dude. You say there's a date announcement for armoured kill? I don't see one, we've known it comes out in september for months, as with december for AM and march 2013 for End game.

Also, it's worth pointing out all games go on sale with the $60 price tag in the US, so we can expect an rrp of £50 but probably the standard £38, which is £4 more than premium costs anyway. Unless you mean $70, 60Eu.

  2. I've edited Sam's piece.

  3. I thought they released the premium thing recently which was just all the DLC. I've seen it for sale in HMV. That retails at £40 doesn't it. Are they now releasing a newer one for a bit more money that includes the main game as well?

  4. Night time maps, snow maps and motorbikes...awesome!!

  5. Glad I didn't get premium on pc and hadn't picked up bf3 on 360 yet, this shall be bought. :)

I think this is BF3 game disc and a code to allow you to get Premium which gives you the access to ALL of the DLC packs. There are 5 packs in total - B2K, CQ (both released so far) Armoured Kill (Sept), Aftermath (Dec) and End Game (Mar 2013).

Each map pack comes with four new maps and new game modes too so that expands the whole multi-player experience. The two that have been released so far also come with 10 new weapons each which can be unlocked by completing assignments (and these are some of my favourite weapons in the game - Not necessarily more powerful so you are not at a a disadvantage by not having them but they do handle well and I prefer to have more choice) Armoured Kill will be adding new Vehicles as well as new game modes too - it seems that each pack will add new game modes so expanding on the options each time. Little is known about aftermath (other than it will be set in an Earthquake ravaged Tehran) and we have seen a few screenshots for this and even less is known about End Game but it is supposed to add motorbikes...

All in all I think this is a good deal IF you haven't got into BF3 yet and I would recommend Premium IF you enjoy the BF3 MP as it expands on the experience. Premium also gives you more customisation options (camos, dog tags) access to the DLC 2 weeks early and exclusive events (like double XP) and is cheaper than buying 4 of the 5 packs separately. It is only 400 ms points more than 3 packs.

Really like the look of new maps in Armoured Kill (well 3 of them anyway as the biggest does look a bit bland but it is a desert!). Not sure about Tank Superiority mode as it is basically a king of the hill type of gamebut could be good fun when I get to play it. Aftermath looks interesting too. It will be interesting to start on a BF3 map that already has a lot of destruction rather than causing it through the course of a match!. Wonder what new game modes it will add...

I ask because my cheapness knows no bounds. I'm trying to work out if I sell my version of Battlefield 3 just now (going rate £16 on play.com) and then buy this edition at £50 when it comes out well technically that means i'm getting all DLC for just an extra £34 rather than the current £40. I know I know. I'm cheap. I haven't yet bothered with close quarters but very interested in Armoured kill that's for sure

Not interested in close quarters either so was just going to get the separate packs that I thought looked good. Think that might be the best financial way. Either that or, you know, do you really need all those kidneys you're hoarding?

Are you sure your not just referring to those Xbox live DLC cards they sell in the shops?

Which are either points or codes to download the DLC.

You might as well just download and purchase the DLC through the game as i'm sure its the same price.

  10. Yeah, truth is my my great plan to save a few quid is probably the worst idea i've had in a while. I guess i'll be forced to buy all the packs anyway or risk getting kicked from a server every time a map I don't own comes up. Still, not even sure i'll bother with any of them. After that update that introduced rented servers I gave up. The multiplayer became a mess of unofficial servers with stupid custom rules. It was virtually impossible to find an official dice server and impossible to know what rules your server had if you chose Quick Match. If it's still the same I'm not sure i'll bother with any of them. Worst idea DICE have ever had. After sinking 100+ hours into multiplayer it was shame they went a ruined it. Still, I don't doubt I was the only one to hate this inclusion

Sorry for the misunderstanding, no. Just meant buying the individual downloads rather than getting the premium or selling the game and re-buying it with premium included. I'm just going to buy the ones I want.

Although saying that there was a deal someone on cvg pointed out some time ago with 4200 point cards available on the microsoft website for 27 quid, which would have been the cheapest way to get premium. Still got the one I bought but saving that for other things.

I managed to find a deal on ms points which was £25 or thereabouts for 4200 points and Premium only cost 4000 so this worked out very well and cheaper than your option.

I wasn't particularly bothered by CQ as I have CoD for that fast paced gun on gun action but found it to be surprisingly good fun and offers something different in BF3. It also adds new game modes and 10 new weapons which in my opinion are some of the best weapons in the game.

Even if you don't play CQ often I guarantee that you will use the weaponry a lot. Besides Premium is still cheaper than buying the other 4 separately by 800 points and only cost 400 more points than 3 separate packs which I think is a good enough reason to get it.

So if you are considering 4 out of the five packs - it is still cheaper to get premium and if you get a good deal on points it is even cheaper..

I will also just add that Premium does ggive you more than just access to the DLC content 2 weeks early - it also gives you more cosmetic enhancements (dog tags, gun and soldier camos/skins) access to exclusive events like bouble XP and new stuff every month. July added new assignments to get more weapon skins and soldier camos. I know its not game changing or giving you an advantage on the Battlefield (fortunately) but at least it is something extra. Also as I said every MAp PAck adds more than just Maps so the overall experience is improved with each one - even if you don't like one so much it does add something to the game that you can use in other maps

£16 + £34 for dlc is coincidentally the same price if you bought the dlc as 4000 ms points at the flat MS rate is £34. This is likely to sell for £40 if the $60 price tag is to be believed (it's what all american games go out at), so you're getting a great deal.

Yeah, I really didn't think it through.

As for enjoying Close Quarters. I'm sure I would get some enjoyment out of it. I really enjoyed Seine Crossing and Metro which were quite up close and personal. Plus I wouldn't want to miss out on new weapons and assignments along with the cosmetic enhancements being mentioned. As I said though, if there's still a million rented servers with annoying custom rules then I'm out. Unless anyone knows of any good servers I can set to favourites. I sure as hell ain't renting my own

  15. I've got loads (nearly 20) of DICE servers favourited, you can tell they're dice by the server owner being dice (obvs, but a lot of people have named their servers dice too, double check the owner). As for close quarters though, I've had a hard time (not found one) finding official servers for them but the rented ones I've been in have been fine, just check the server browser and see their rules, most just up the tickets for longer games, some ban weapons. The best are normal rules ones which are rented for specific map selections and modes, they're really quite good considering I too hate the rented server bullshit.

Also, the AUG; why peeps should buy close quarters for this alone. But the maps are great too, especially in the gun game. I hated it at first, but it was noobitis, love ziba tower with the destruction... mmm!

  16. I have to agree, i cannot stand these custom servers.

I can be having a fantastic game, with maximum tickets then all of a sudden 1 hour into the game i get kicked by the host because he wants to let a friend in, or i accidentally killed him, or perhaps i stole his tank. Its B*****s

I tried to get around this by using my own server, so i rented one myself but no one ever came in. No matter what rules or modes i set no one ever came in. I had a 1 month server and only had one or two games with about 8 players.

Sometimes you can find good servers, but i am finding on hardcore there are too many team killers now.

    Drives me mad!

  17. So, should I just trade in my copy and re-buy the super duper version then?

I know this was discussed but I lost the flow of the discussion a bit.

  19. More extortionate dlc. Wonderful.

  20. More extortionate dlc. Wonderful.

I wouldn't say extortionate, it's basically 800 MP per pack with premium, maybe even 1000mp if you consider the back to karkand was free for limited edition, that's still £7 max for four maps, and tons of bits and bobs to encourage you to keep playing.
