Sleeping Dogs DLC pack Retro Triad is day one DLC, six months of content planned

"The game launch is just the beginning."

In case you missed it, United Front's latest is an unexpected delight. Our world-first Sleeping Dogs Xbox 360 review went with a 9/10, praising the driving, storyline and setting while reserving a tiny spoonful of criticism for the game's length.

Nice to know there's more of what made the game good on the way, then, isn't it? Six whole months of DLC content, to be precise, beginning with "the 80s-inspired Retro Triad Pack, a killer old school outfit with its own player buffs and funky kung-fu van". It launches this very week, in time for the game's release on 17th August.

Additional content packs are planned from September, including "a high-speed Racing Pack and an explosive SWAT Pack". Pricing details have yet to be announced. Naturally, Square Enix London Studios general manager Lee Singleton is pretty upbeat about all this.

"We want to create something to suit everyone's play style from cool cars and high-speed missions to outlandish outfits and game-extending mission packs," he said in a release. "The game launch is just the beginning."

  1. As long as it's 400MSP or less, because it doesn't sound like much. An outfit and a vehicle? And those six weekly DLCs better not be counting the two you get free with the limited edition.

  2. The SWAT pack sounds like the one with the Ltd Ed.Not to bothered i doubt they will cost loads and you get loads free with the Ltd Ed. anyway.

  3. As i understand it there will be a few extending the game mission packs, which will be alright given in the review it isn't claimed to be that long just doing missions and story. :D

  4. Game is criticised for length but has dlc packs? They could have gone for 10 with this content, though admittedly this sounds like aesthetic fluff.

  5. I got this wrong - it's six months of DLC, not six DLC packs. D'oh.

  6. I got this wrong - it's six months of DLC, not six DLC packs. D'oh.

We forgive you Ed,it's hardly ever, that you feed us false information.

  7. I got this wrong - it's six months of DLC, not six DLC packs. D'oh.

If it makes you feel better Ed, it probably is going to be six DLC packs over six months. I'd say you were half right?

  8. Hopefully it's more than just clothes and vehicles although i understand the clothes give you different moves in the fighting.Unless you can get them all through the game anyway. The extra missions packs should be alright i hope, you never know though nowadays after some for DD.

  9. Retro Triad pack is only 160MSP, so it's not that bad. What concerns me more is the Top Dog Silver pack that is just experience points for 160MSP and there's going to be a Top Dog Gold pack too. Why sell XP?
