Obama camp dismisses ‘unhinged’ Romney attack

President Barack Obama campaigns in Oskaloosa, Iowa (Scott Olson/Getty Images)President Barack Obama's campaign dismissed Mitt Romney's "unhinged" criticisms of the incumbent's re-election tactics as the rhetorical war between the Democrat and his Republican challenger escalated yet again.

"Gov. Romney's comments tonight seemed unhinged, and particularly strange coming at a time when he's pouring tens of millions of dollars into negative ads that are demonstrably false," Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said in a written statement.

LaBolt was responding to a withering assault from Romney at a campaign stop in Ohio, where the former Massachusetts governor accused the president of "diversions and distractions" and "defaming others" in order to win re-election this November.

Romney tarred Obama as "intellectually exhausted, out of ideas and out of energy."

"His campaign and his surrogates have made wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the presidency," Romney said.

"He demonizes some. He panders to others. His campaign strategy is to smash America apart and then cobble together 51 percent of the pieces. If an American president wins that way, we all lose," Romney said. "So, Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago, and let us get about rebuilding and reuniting America."

Harry Reid spins some incredible lies, so I have to agree with Elaine that there is at least one Mormon who is a liar. Tarring all Mormons as liars, however, would be the same as saying that anyone who posts under the name Elaine is a narrow-minded bigot, and that just cannot be true.

Reagan era (GOP) Global Trade policies started the whole economic mess we are finally getting out of under Obama's leadership. The "out-sourcing" phenomenon that has decimated our middle-class was championed by Republicans like Reagan. This ideology, compounded with George Bush's stupid decisions almost caused another Great Depression!

Fat-Cat GOP Billionaires and their Defense Contractor Lobbyist like Halliburton, and Blackwater benefited from the unneeded trillion dollar plus war in Iraq. Not to mention the wanton pillaging of the under-regulated Mortgage and Banking Industries also under George W. Bush’s supervision.

When President Obama took oath, this country was losing 700,000 jobs a month thanks to Bush’s flawed Republican policies of protecting the wealthy. Obama has created more than 4 million! Further, the DOW was below 7000 when Bush casually waltzed away from the devastation... today under Obama it hovers above 13,000!

If anyone can give me credible evidence with references, that I’m wrong in all of my accounts… I will pull the lever myself for the GOP in November!

@BOB...Just how did you get that information? No one retires from the Post Office making more money than they did working! That is ridculous. You are very misinformed." With full benefits medical and dental plans"...really? Some have insurance, but the dental is very little ( pathetic actually) and that insurance isn't free! Unless of course you think that $438 for medical and $135 for life insurance is free? Retire in a few years...let me see...if you are 50 and have 30 years of service and take 2% cut per year of early retirement one could retire with a small pension but not enough to to retire on. That junk mail is revenue for the postal service and business for the folks mailing it! FYI Bob, the postal service went from Civil Service to the FERS years ago( In the late 80's) and started hiring noncareer workers...NO BENEFITS! That's right...no insurance, no vacation, no retirement, no sick leave and very little pay. What does that mean? Nothing going into the retirement plan from those folks. Hint: This is where the prepayment requirement comes in at. The postal service does deliver 3rd class mail (junk as you called), but they also deliver first class letter mail and parcels and magazines. They deliver it world wide and are very efficient at it. Think you can get UPS or FEDX to deliver a letter for the price the Postal Service does? Think again!

From what I have heard this past year and what he has said/done in the past it seems like Mitt doesn't know whether he is coming or going, he wants to go into two directions at once...a sign of cowardly indecisiveness.

Twotoo will now tell us about his adventures at the $80,000 per couple Obama dinners. Then he will tell us why Black unemployment has doubled and both women and Hispanics have seen big increases in eumployment under Obama who "cares" about the middle class and minorites.

Our economy will not improve until we bring back the millions of American jobs that have been outsourced to Mexico, Communist China and every other 3rd world country in the world. This outsourcing has destroyed the middle class, the very fuel that makes our economy work.

So I'm hearing lots of reasons why I should vote AGAINST this guy or AGAINST that guy... can I hear why I should vote FOR someone (that isn't just a thinly veiled attack at their opponent)?

I hate the whole concept of voting AGAINST someone. Voting should be more about what we DO want more than what we DON'T want. But, based on this campaign's rhetoric, I have to choose which job-killing, anti-american, middle-class-hating, outsoucing, sell-out I'm voting against.

Obama is running on empty and he does not have any new ideas unless you call rehashing the old ones in a different cover and title as being new then he might have something new that way. When you second on the ticket talks down to a black crowd in VA by using shackles and chains in a former Slave state it is just going for broke on an empty tank.

I have an idea...how about the news media not report on anything that has nothing to do with economy, jobs and the most important items. No more of this garbage. The people are getting tired of all this garbage and the media and reporters are spoon feeding it to everyone and ignoring what is so important to everyone.
