Bravely Default: Flying Fairy Screens Added
What's in a name?
04.02.12 - 5:27 PM

The most recent batch of media for Square Enix's Nintendo 3DS RPG Bravely Default: Flying Fairy show more of the main character, Tiz. The sixteen-year old has had the not-so-pleasure of seeing his hometown sucked away into a giant hole into the ground, and losing his younger brother, his only family. He later meets up with Anies, the heroine who hopes to defeat the darkness that is spreading.

Screens also show a kingdom in the middle of a desert, a home to a shrine built for the wind crystal. This kingdom relies on wind power, but the wind has stopped blowing, forcing them to rely on manual labour much more. The area also suffers from piracy, and the water being controlled by corporate interests.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy's unusual choice for a name was also discussed in a Famitsu interview with scenario writer Naotaka Hayashi (Steins;Gate). The 'bravely default' part, in particular, means something along the lines of "have courage and renounce the promises and responsibilities that are expected of you."

Be sure to have a look at the 17 new screens and 4 new artwork in our gallery below. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy releases in Japan sometime this year, with a Western release not announced yet. For those with a Japanese 3DS, a second demo is now available.
