Wasteland 2 KickStarter Gets Even More Incentive
If $2.1 million is reached, Obsidian and and Chris Avellone will collaborate on the game.
03.30.12 - 3:05 PM

Just a couple weeks ago, inXile Entertainment began a KickStarter campaign to raise funds for a sequel to 1988's Wasteland, the same title which served as inspiration for Bethesda's Fallout series. It didn't take long at all for the campaign to reach the $1.5 million mark, meaning that Mac and Linux versions of Wasteland 2 are official. The campaign, however, is still going with some new incentive and a new goal.

If the KickStarter reaches a new goal of $2.1 million, Obsidian Entertainment and its chief creative officer, Chris Avellone (Fallout 1 & 2, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment) have agreed that they will come onboard the Wasteland 2 project. They will collaborate with inXile in the game design and writing areas. Obsidian's RPG experience and tools would lend a great deal to Wasteland 2, according to inXile's Brian Fargo.

As of this writing, the campaign sits at just under $1.7 million and has over 17 days left to go. InXile adds that for those who live in a country where they're unable to donate directly via KickStarter, they can instead donate via the game's main site using PayPal.
