And Mark said in his best Larry David voice, "Not for nothing but you couldn't give me this when I was a Freshman?"

gotta love it - a kid busting his butt to play the game he loves at the next level with no guarantee of support. - only in America. Way to go Mark!!! Congrats!

Look, I'm really happy for this guy, think it's great and deserved it..BUT I'm sure being black helps and helps the reputation of the school...My son who is half (but looks full) Hispanic, bi-lingual, got an EXCELLENT GPA, was an athlete and most importanty went through close to death lung cancer as a Jr. in High School ( and still kept his grades up)...Despite applying for numerous scholarships he couldn't even get ONE #$%$ DIME for one of our state universities! I'm retired (21 yrs) military, work full time and I live a VERY frugal life, small house etc. and am putting him through full ride but still PO'd, this is the thanks you get for being responsible...Everytime I turn around I here about a black person getting a scholarship...

"This guy" is majoring in chemical engineering at one of the best universities in the world while playing major college football. Your racist sour grapes are unbecoming.

They're getting scholarships because they dominate sports. If your son was a better athlete he would have one too.

Whats so great about this story, they give every black a free ride for everything, its so they can level the l field. Most screw around and drop out after the second year.

What is the big deal. If you have a spare scholarship you use it or lose it.

This is a great story. The young man worked his butt off for 3 years and was rewarded for his efforts. He must have kept his grades up and did well on the field. It wasn't about being Black, Bozo, (good name) it was about working hard. LIFE is not spelled F A I R.
Thank you for your service. And appreciate mine. AIRBORNE!!!!!!!!
