Best laptops under AU$1000

If you've only got AU$1000 to spend on a laptop, chances are you're wondering about buying a netbook or a full-sized laptop.

Full-sized laptops not only have bigger screens, they also have significantly better performance and features, and only for a little bit more than a netbook. If extreme portability isn't a necessity, you'd be much better off looking at the laptops here to get the best bang for your buck.

Asus K52F

We like the Asus K52F a lot. For less than AU$1000, you get a heck of a lot of value in a design that usually comes at a much higher premium. If you don't need Bluetooth, this is an excellent laptop indeed.   14

Check the HP DV6-3006TX $997 at Dick Smith (I bought it 2 weeks ago). 4GB. 500GB. 1G Graphics. Win 7. Bluetooth. HDMI output. Built-in WebCam. Everyone else (JB HiFi, OW, etc.) sells it for $200-300 more.

Hello Craig,

I have just become a member and this is my first Reply... hope it works. Your review on the Asus K52F I found really useful. Would you have some more numbers on the end the K52F... from the laptop that you tested or is it irrelevant. Just want to make sure I purchase the correct one... there are a few different models etc.

Thanks Symon

Hi Symon,

The reviewed SKU was the K52F-SX156X. As you've noticed, there are many K52F's on the market, with different processor, RAM and hard drive specs.

In general, steer clear of the ones that include the Pentium processor, and you've got the chance to grab a model with 4GB RAM, we'd take it! As far as we can see from www.staticice.com.au, it should still fall under the AU$1000 mark.

Cheers,

Craig
