Halo 4: Xbox SmartGlass "could work well" with Halo Waypoint

343 to bring "new experiences" to Halo community platform

Halo 4's executive producer Jerry Hook has shed a bit of light (the very faintest beam) on Halo 4's possible Xbox SmartGlass functions. That pop-up encyclopedia stuff we saw at E3? We can probably expect the finished article to pursue similar ideas.

"When Xbox started creating this great idea for SmartGlass, we came up with a couple of concepts that we could produce," Hook told OXM in our latest issue, on shelves now. "That's not necessarily what we'll ship, but [Waypoint] is a good example of one of the things we thought would work well.

"Our goal with Halo Waypoint in general is to be a hub that ties the whole franchise together," he went on. "We realise that people will want to play different things, whether it's Anniversary or Reach or Halo 4, and we want a place in which they can track their stats and look at new experiences that we will provide on Waypoint as we continue to move forward."

That E3 concept demo.
343 boss Frank O'Connor has said Halo 4 will "surprise cynics". Could it do likewise for those unconvinced by SmartGlass?

Here are eight things you can already do with the functionality, plus a bunch of more sophisticated applications we've shamelessly made up.
