Minecraft Xbox 360 update: 4J hoping to release 1.7.3 bug fix in "sooner than a week"

Also, developer may combine material from Minecraft PC beta 1.8 and 1.9

4J has announced that Minecraft Xbox 360 update 1.7.3's much-demanded bug fix patch could arrive before 9th August, though it's still waiting on Microsoft for the go-code.

"We're hoping sooner than a week, but it's not in our control - we have to wait along with everyone else," the studio Tweeted last night. Minecraft developer Stuart Ross also revealed that 4J may combine material from Minecraft PC beta 1.8.2 and 1.9 in a forthcoming update. "There is an awful lot of stuff with the two. We may bring some things forward but not all of it."

Known currently existing Minecraft Xbox 360 bugs include skeletons not being able to damage you while you're jumping (yay!), drowning while full of oxygen (boo!), mobs spawning inside homes (WTF?) and armour turning invisible (boo!). Fire up this Minecraft forum thread to share and commiserate.

Question for the thread: would you like us to put together a feature on the subject of certification procedures? They're clearly a vital component of any digital content platform, but they've been the cause of much fan ire.

Second, less chin-strokey question for the thread: are you still playing Minecraft, or has one of its Xbox Live Indie clones seduced you away?

  1. Minecraft is still number one in my house. Kids live it the wife loves it but I'm getting bored with it now, I want to shoot something or have a high octane experience. Might go back and play CoD MW or MW2

  3. Good news indeed even more so if they can cram some extras in there.

Plus yeah the bloody cert. process seems to be getting worse.I thought 4J had been able to kick MS up the arse about that.Plus all the time for the Cold stream dlc for L4D2 how much of that is down to MS and not Valve.Fair enough you want any updates etc. to be ok and not cause any more probs. etc. but surely it seems to be getting slower. The last Minecraft one was eight hours late.

  4. The only problem with the certification process is getting a date set for release, it's annoying when Valve give you a date and then go 'whoops we didn't do the update' but we'd be ok if they said, cold stream has gone for certification, and then announced the date when they had one. That would be nice.

  5. By 1.9 do they mean 1.1.1? Because I for one don't remember there being a 1.9 update for PC.

Found some evidence on the Wiki for Minecraft development history.

Considered the "Lost Update",a full version under the name "Beta 1.9" never came. Instead, Mojang opted to delay the release of this update until MineCon 2011 and release it under the name "Minecraft 1.0.0
