Paul Ryan Says He'll Release 2 Years of Taxes

Rep. Paul Ryan says he will only release two years of his tax returns โ€” the same amount Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has agreed to release.

Romney's running mate says voters are concerned about the economy, not tax returns. He says the focus on the candidates' tax returns is a distraction from President Barack Obama's record.

Ryan tells CBS' "60 Minutes" that he and Romney will focus on what it takes to turn the country around.

Romney has been criticized for refusing to turn over more tax returns. Romney has released one year so far and vowed to release this year's returns when they are ready.

A Romney adviser says Ryan gave the campaign "several" years of tax returns when he was being vetted, but wouldn't specify how many.

the 2 wars and the economy collapse all happend whith bush in office. 2 wars that didnt have to happen in the first place. no WMDs in iraq and a sniper team could have gotten osama alot easier. theres trillions right there. bush was on the way out so he didnt care. obama has tried to pass bill to help america but of course the republicans voted it all down. Does a company that posts billions in profit need tax cuts or the rich that pays such a small percentage in taxes, unlike the rest of us. The facts are all there and im no obama fan, but the truth is the truth. he tried to get things done and the republicans wouldnt let him.. romney is puppet of the rich. Like bushes vice president is now being paid millions and is employed by the miliatary companies that he gave all those contracts too. part of the reason for the wars if you didnt guess. We are no longer the home of the free and brave, just the greedy

Obama paid for college like most people now -- with loans. He and Michelle just finished paying off their student loans before he was elected president. Obama is running on his college grades or experience, but Romney is running on his business experience. Romney also destroyed most of the records of his administration as Governor of Massachusetts -- what was he hiding there? If there was nothing wrong, why didn't he let those records become part of the history of Massachusetts?

Gp2008. Obama was stonewalled by the Publican at every attempt to fix the nation. The GOP had promised a nation in ruins on his inauguration day. That's what we have gotten. Hope you publicans are happy. Yeah, blame Obama for what the GOP has done, starting with the Financial meltdown during the Dubya's term.

If Obama ruined freedom He sure had a heaping pile of help from his Republican predecessor.Tha Republicans are just as much to blame. They all say they are going to fix the problem by educating the American work force.Since when does it take a Engineering Degree to put mustard on a hamberger.

One thing is for sure, WE all need to get out of the left/ right, Dem vs Repub monkey show paradigm. They both have put us here in this mess. We need to change our way of thinking, shut off the TV and think for ourselves and retain our our logic that DC is the problem, not We The People.

You republiCONS are lost. Lemmings to the Koch brothers and your party and against your own best interests. Go kick yourselves in the head. After the Bush debacle you can't see that the republicans are the real money and policy waisters you are lost!!! Your information is way flawed. What I find completely baffling is the tea baggers, mostly old people that are voting against there own interest. They don't want anyone messing with medicare and social security yet the people they are voting for WILL DESTROY THEM!!! GO RIGHT AHEAD MORONS!!!

but also true, our wonderful president has not gotten us out of this mess after promising us that he would. Why do people always forget about that?
      • Falcon0370 10 hrs ago
Because they are Republican, They want 2 classes, Rich and Poor (no middle) so they assume You and I and everyone else they are trying to get to vote for them, are Poor and on Welfare. If we were Rich they would already know us and be looking out for us.

Since he has always been in government never held a job in the private sector, and he says he came from the middle class, I would like to see how much he is worth and when he started making his money and how. It will give us an inside look at Congress and why we need Congressional reforms.

@Jamex; Keep your change was making a cross comparison with two candidates. I didn't say ignore Ryan, I said you don't compare a vice president to a president.

@keepyourchange......So you fell for all that propaganda did you...I bet Ryan is very rich now and that says a lot.

Tax returns are a distraction? Really? You mean like asking a sitting president to show his birth certificate or explain what church he goes too or socializes with at parties? I think knowing the financial interests and sources of income for presidential candidates are pretty darn important. If you don't have anything to hide, why hide it?

As a percentage, EVERY working stiff in America paid at least ten times what Mitt paid for Medicare and Social Security tax. As for Federal tax... almost all of us who earned in excess of 100,000 paid a higher percent than Mitt. It is time for change... a big change to the tax structure!

What we know is this; our country has been looted and it's pretty obvious who did the looting.
    • Corey  •  13 hrs ago
I guess the whole point of a campaign is to reveal as little as possible about a candidate while speaking in easily digestible soundbites and applause lines. This is just further deterioration of our political process and really bad news for Americans.

Why are we letting the candidates decide what they will do? Are we not interviewing them for the job? Do we tell prospective employers what we will offer? who the h eii are these guys?

Voters are concerned about the integrity of the people they elect. They determine the direction of the economy and people who are deceptive are usually not used to acting for the good of everyone.

So buying a house involves greater personal scrutiny than running for the 2 most important positions in the country?
    • darb  •  10 hrs ago
Actually.. the Romney campaign has really served a good purpose... it has shown us the the top 1% pay far less tax as a percent, than us "little people". Apparently Leona Helmsley was telling the truth when she said "Taxes are for the little people"

We need to take corporate money out of politics. The corporations have conquered us by dividing us into two camps, Right and Left while most Americans are centrist.

When Americans become willing to look in the mirror and face the truth, that is, that our government is every bit as corrupt, incompetent and self-serving as every other nation on the planet, that we are not morally superior to anybody else, and that the only thing different here than 3rd world nations is we haven't yet had a military overthrow of government....then and only then, will real change begin to occur. There's been a lot of talk the last few years about companies that are "too big to fail" yet the largest "company" in the country, the federal government, has been allowed to become just that! If the government were a private sector entity, it would be looking at bailouts or bankruptcy right now. And NOBODY has the desire, ability or intestinal fortitude to actually begin the process of changing it. They talk about waste and fraud yet it continues. They talk about reform of any number of things yet all the changes that get made do nothing to actually change the fundamental problems. Agencies, commissions, boards, committees, etc etc piled on top of each other with no efficiency, no accountability, and no direction. Homeland Security was supposed to fix many of these types of problems that existed in the various defense and law enforcement agencies. All DHS has done is expand the defense industry to the benefit of private contractors in the pockets of the politicians. Absent the violence, our system at this moment is no better than Iraq, Egypt, or many other countries. We have a populus that is divided into many different camps and which has become more hostile toward one another than at any time in our history. People relations weren't even this bad during the civil rights movement. Never has there been a time when Americans were so outwardly hostile toward their elected leader no matter the circumstances...not the Carter admin, the Nixon admin, not even the Hoover admin...when did it become okay to accuse the POTUS of being a terrorist? John McCain told Palin at the end of the last campaign that she would be a flag bearer for the party but to be careful and wise because the extremist faction was out of control and in process of destroying the GOP if allowed to continue unabated. McCain didn't get much right in that campaign but he was dead on about that one. No matter if one agrees with the policies or not, when the Democratic party is the voice of reason in this country, something has dramatically changed and not for the better. The ugliness is out there but I promise you the next 3 months will be like nothing ever seen before in America. Romney hasn't even begun to get dirty yet and with his war chest and the extremism among the GOP base, nothing will be off limits. The Democrats have tried to strike early with the negatives but they too have plenty of powder left. And what will all of that change? Nothing. It's time for Americans to understand that this election is about THEM, not Obama, not Romney, not the GOP or the Tea Party, or the Dems. It's about the 80% of us who still have some reason in our brains, some faith in our hearts, and some fortitude in our guts. There are real issues that need real solutions. Those solutions aren't complicated no matter what politicians want us to believe. Everybody can't have everything their way but everybody CAN have solutions that benefit the greater good. The GOP in particular loves to quote Reagan but they forget the words of Kennedy "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Isn't it time we ALL ask ourselves that great question?????
