Paul Ryan Makes It Rain Money on Mitt Romney

ABC's Emily Friedman and Zach Wolf report:

An upside for Mitt Romney in selecting Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate is that he ignites a real excitement among budget-minded conservatives.

That excitement was clear Saturday when, according to Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul, the campaign raised $1.2 million in just the four hours after announcing Ryan as running mate.

Romney has eclipsed President Obama in fundraising in the months since clinching the GOP nomination, although Obama, who has been raising money for his entire presidency, still has more cash on hand.

Maybe our government should change what it says on money. Instead of IN GOD WE TRUST, it should read IN MONEY WE TRUST.

distribute the wealth is obama's game plan...why should anybody who had and/or still is still working have to take and pay for those individuals who have failed to hold down a "proper"job by working under the table or simply not working at all?i had a few serious healthcare crisis in my life and im only in the late 40's with environmental exposures and hereditary factors which now has permanently incapacitated my health.i couldve applied for ss at age 30 due to my hereditary disease but chose to go back to work within 6 weeks of a major medical procedure when i was told not to but did and went back fulltime...i busted my tail to makeup for the months i was out after reconstructive surgery and reversal and went back to work..two years later ...i was working a fulltime job and a part time job on top of that...and there were so many people on welfare who claimed to be poor BUT are coming up with cash for cigarettes, booze, expensive clothes, new rims on new cars, getting acrylic nails ,ect.....they have cellphones ..if u need assistance, cause u have no job and cant find one...the cigs, booze, fashionable expensive clothes, new rims on their ride and acrylic nails are NOT a neccessity!

if obama gets re-elected...say,he does have a chance to sit another supreme court justice...he will select a person, who will decide according to his idealogy, that can relate to what obama wants to see happen in the future for the good of the country and obama will take steps to slowly alter our way of life...i say obama,if re-elected,will do all he can this 2nd term to remain as commander in chief, permanently, and he will rephrase the motto currently on all the currentcy to say "in obama we trust"rather than "in money we trust"as mark states above..obama is too self centered and eggotistical and cares little about anybody as he is stomping across the contitution ...time and time again...with little concern but what he DICTATES...the money falls into play to be at his disposal towards what obama sees fit for his ideology for those subjects he rules over who are...we,the people!people...go ahead and give this man another 4 years and those who vote him 4 more years..may end up giving him an extended term that what is currently law and then if we end up all going to hell in a handbasket,u are going along for the ride as us but then it will be too late for anybody to do anything about it...

Perhaps we should just have the President spend four years on a fundraiser tour, and use the money to pay down the national debt. $1.2mil every four hours would stack up after a couple of years.

@F Playing golf and vacationing almost every week then going on a campaign tour. Get real. This joker has not done his job. Him and congress both suck. They both are crap candidates we need real leadership not some crybaby in office who is scared that the people will know all about them. What is he hiding? Nobody seals a record unless it contains serious damage to them.

They all shout out, "Make it Rain, Make it Rain" while the stripper continues to gyrate around the pole, "Make it Rain, Make it Rain". . .dumb #$%$ yahoo commentors who don't know what "Make It Rain" really is referring to.

Could you do your job if an equally powerful group of individuals were recklessly choosing to do the exact opposite of your intentions? Not only would Ryan and Romney not do the job you'd like them to do, if they were elected. They'll make the wealthy money for two years before the average american realizes that they are getting screwed and that they need to vote the Republicans out of the House. A few more elections like this and we'll hardly be in the top 25 best contries in the world, by any measure.

It's amazing how all-of-a-sudden the lame stream is working themsleves into a hysteria again over campaign donations while during the last Presidential campaign, they barely mentioned it (hypocrisy).

If the money spent by PACs (on both sides) were spent on education, more Americans could acquire the job readiness required for 21st century technology and other benefits, including a well educated citizenry. The less dependent we are on foreign expertise, the greater our national security.

More state and local control benifits all of us.
      • Casey 1 day 14 hrs ago
We already spend too much on education. We don't have a population wanting to learn anyways. Our people don't need jobs, they just get stuff from the government and that's all the next generation will know. All the money we keep throwing at "education" just ends up with the teachers unions. Cut the dept. Of education and see the quality improve 50% overnight. Should be left to the states.
      • Lloyd 1 day 14 hrs ago
Money for education is a farce. Throwing more money at a broke system is pure folly unless, of course, you are the beneficiary of the money. The system is in place, it takes the right people not money to improve it. Just like a business, no one invests in a bankrupt business that wont change and is hamstrung by unions and politicains.

Jefferson, who authored our Declaration of Independence, became an ardent Anti-Federalist because he was convinced that those elected to lead our nation would forgo their higher calling to "support and defend the Constitution," and become pawns for special interests, using those constituencies to perpetuate their office and further centralize national government power.

Nowhere was he more concerned about this degradation of public integrity than in regard to the judiciary. Jefferson feared it would become the "despotic branch", undermining and altering the proposed constitution by judicial diktat rather than its prescribed method.

Democrats like Paul Ryan about as much as they like toe jam, tight underwear, belly button lint, excessive gas, tinea pedis or tinea corporis. And they certainly didn't like his deficit reduction plan either.

moneymoneymoney...american politics seems to be about little else...funny, i don't remember money being mentioned much in the constitution or the declaration of independence or the bill of rights...i guess the founders had it all wrong.

Who says you cant buy the presidency? All you need is a stupid electorate. It took 4 years to fool people to vote for the same folks who gave you 2007, with the same trickle down policies.

it's funny how if you're anti the romney/ryan ticket, people out here tend to presume that you're pro bama/biden.

It seems advertising companies make LOTS of money during elections years. Good business to be in. I went for a different major, but I could do something like that on the side. Only problem is, these days, you need connections for everything.

Oh boy!! Mitt raised 1.2million in just four hours. He' better than Obama because he raised more money!! After all, Doesn't him raising the most money tell everyone what a wonderful president he will make?? Is raising money really what this campaingn is about??? I think Romney and Obama both "SUCK" no matter how much money they raise.

I have yet to hear a GOP plan to stop out sourcing jobs, WAIT, their plan is to continue to finger point, threaten to attack Iran, and give the Rich more money in another FAILED attempt at trickel-down economics. IT FAILED then and it will CRASH and BURN the country NOW!!!
