WWF: World Elephant Day
Six months after heavily-armed foreign poachers invaded Cameroon and killed over 300 elephants in Bouba N’Djida National Park, and on the eve of World Elephant Day, WWF fears there may not be much to celebrate if ivory poaching and illegal wildlife trade continues unabated. Entire elephant populations could be wiped out from Central Africa as tens of thousands of elephants are killed each year for their tusks, which are in high demand in Asian black markets. Please visit worldwildlife.org/wildlifecrime to learn more about how to help WWF save Elephants from extinction.
