We caught up with James Moffat, V8 Supercars driver for the Team Norton DJR race team.

James Moffat, son of touring car legend Allan Moffat, has been racing with Dick Johnson Racing for two years now, with Norton becoming a name sponsor for the team in 2012. The V8 Supercars tour takes its drivers around the country and to the Asian region, so James has to keep a tight travel schedule.
What tech do you travel with and why?
I always travel with my notebook computer and tablet, so that I can access my emails and browse the web to occupy [my] time whilst travelling and when in transit.
What tech do you miss from home?
I don't really miss anything, because everything that I do on my desktop, I can do with my notebook while I am travelling. I am always connected when on the move.
Most memorable travel story/experience.
Any time that I land safely is a memorable experience for me.
Personal travel advice/tip?
Don't miss your flight — it can get expensive. And if you're taking pictures while on holiday, make sure you back them up to the cloud. That way, they'll always be safe if you happen to lose your PC, phone or tablet.
How do you deal with jet lag?
Fortunately, I haven't had to deal with jet lag too much, as I mostly travel interstate. But I guess there is no substitute for sleep.
What tech is in your briefcase?
Toshiba Satellite Z380 — very handy because it is the lightest notebook on the market — and Toshiba AT200 tablet.
What is your one must-have piece of tech when travelling? What you never leave home without.
I generally always try and travel with my notebook or tablet, but regardless of the device, I always have Norton security installed, so I know all my stuff is protected whenever and wherever I am online.
What was your biggest travel disaster?
Not really a disaster, but I did miss a flight to a race recently. It wasn't too bad as I was able to get on the next flight!
What is the best airport you've visited and why?
The airport in Abu Dhabi [United Arab Emirates] was pretty impressive. As was Heathrow, just through its sheer size and the number of terminals they have.
What was your last tech purchase?
A micro USB stick.
What tech do you expect in hotels when you are travelling?
Free Wi-Fi is always nice to have.
