Tennessee women's basketball coach Holly Warlick has rounded out her administrative staff, naming Lenoir City High School athletic director/assistant principal Janet McGee as assistant to the head coach.

Warlick also added former Lady Vols practice player Josh Baney as a graduate assistant.

McGee, who has worked at Lenoir City since 1983, has been the athletic director at Lenoir City the past six years.

She's excited about the job at Tennessee, McGee said, but also feels bittersweet about the move because of her many years at Lenoir City.

McGee's final day at Lenoir City will be Aug. 10.

"It's been a good place and the community has been really good, the board and the director and all those people, to me. A lot of great friends there," said McGee, who played basketball at Tennessee Tech from 1977-1982.

"But this is such a great move for me. I'm not ready to quit working right now, although I've got my years in. To get to go over there and be a part of that program is just unbelievable."

During her time at Lenoir City, McGee had coaching stints with the school's basketball, softball and golf teams.

Some of McGee's primary duties at Tennessee will include managing daily operations in the basketball office and assisting in on-campus recruiting activities.

"Janet possesses great organization and administrative skills from her previous positions as an athletics director and coach," Warlick said in a UT release.

Baney was a student at Tennessee from 2001-05. He played a year of professional basketball in Ecuador in 2006. He was a boys' assistant coach at Briarcrest Christian High School (2005-09, 2011) in Memphis and a men's assistant coach at Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn., from 2010-11.

"Josh has coaching experience at both the high school and college levels, and, of course, is familiar with this program as a practice player," Warlick said.

"I am pleased to add Janet and Josh, and the talents they possess, to our staff."

Is anyone surprised at these 2 additions, OR, is it just me? I did not realize we needed more staff, especially unknowns. Again, It could be just me. You local folks may know these 2 well and are rejoicing over their hiring. I'm sincerely surprised.

Good gosh, it's an administrator and a grad assistant! What's there to be surprised about? Did you expect Candace Parker and Tamika Catchings to stop by on the way home from London and accept these positions once they won gold at the Olympics?

It's hard to say at this point, what Baney & McGee have to bring to the table. What is the point of these hires? I thought the staff was in pretty decent shape before these announcements. What kind of clout does McGee have in persuading top talent to commit to the UT LV's. I think UT will need to start going the AAU route and Junior College route to supplement talent lost to other top four year schools

OK 98 and BigR, sorry you two weren't aware we needed more staff! Is Holly suppose to be giving us fans a daily update? Don't be ridiculous! These are basic staff positions that weren't filled. We got headline reports when she hired the assistants who will become known to all of us like she, Dean, Micki, and Nicki were to Pat. But Pat had lots of folks on staff that you never knew about. Holly will have those also. If the janitor who cleans the locker room retires, should she call and let you know she has another opening to fill? When did fans start micro managing our sports? Just let her do her job and hire who she needs. If it wasn't a legit position then the money wouldn't be there for the hire. Good Grief!

Also, please note this gal is not an assistant head coach. She is the assistant to the head coach.
In other words her personal assistant.
A behind the scenes job that we fans really didn't even need to be told about.

Don't know Baney but if you read the article with care you will notice McGhee was asst. principal in addition to her athletic duties. Having worked with many school administrators..I have not seen one more competent at this profession than Janet McGhee..and that is one tough job...with Janet..if a student broke a rule there was no in between or consideration of who the student was..the penalty was given with no reservations..don't know what her role will be but I know her history is one of being fair to all and partial to none...don't know how this will work at UT...

You can bicker back and forth until tip off time. We will see first hand and soon if Holly can lead the program. I personally think that our recruiting will suffer, and I don't think she is animated enough on the side lines to give us any questionable calls with the refs. It's just my opinion, but everyone has one.
