DOOM 4 to be Xbox 720 title? id Software seeks fans for next gen work

Quake studio may revive classic "characters, brands and universes"

id Software is seeking a UI programmer to work on "cutting-edge technology for an unannounced game on future-generation consoles". Candidates must display a "familiarity with id Software games, characters, brands and universes". Seems it's a sequel, then. But a sequel to what?

Which would you like first - a new Wolfenstein title (there's allegedly one in development at Machinegames), Rage 2 (of which we can expect a few announcements soon), Quake 5 or Doom 4? The latter seems most plausible - alleged prototype shots for it showed up in February (click the image for a gallery) alongside a cancellation rumour.

Bethesda's Peter Hines poured water over the latter, but id Software's design director Matt Hooper didn't quite manage to deny the authenticity of the former, commenting only that "those images have nothing to do with what you're gonna see in Doom 4".

It's QuakeCon next week. We'll probably hear more then. Thanks, Kotaku.

  1. I know this has nothing to do with DOOM, but the ad for OXM on iPad says it is £2.99 even though the picture next to it says that it is £3.99
