If you are looking for a sweet little puzzle on your BlackBerry smartphone then you may want to check out Glutton Xonix. There is one downside however and that is screen resolution. I tried the app on my Bold 9900 and it was hopeless. So I spoke with the dev who stated that at the moment it only works with devices with any of these resolutions: 320x240, 360x480, 480x360, 480x640 (only Torch 9810), 480x800.

The game itself is pretty good as I then tried it on my Bold 9790. You control a monster who you guide around the screen. His trail will reveal a hidden picture to keep you entertained. But watch out for the enemies on the screen - they will destroy you.
 Coincidentally we had an email today from the dev stating that he has updated the app with eight new free level packs so good news all round.

Whatever smartphone platform you are on you will be sure to find a game where you shoot a canon at coloured objects . The other day I stumbled upon Juminja for BlackBerry smartphones and although these sort of games aren't really my cup of tea I thought I would give it a go as recently we have had some great games come into App World with smooth attractive graphics and game play.

It would seem I made a good decision as Juminja is a pretty sweet game. You have to fire coloured Ninja's from a cannon and when you have three in a row they explode. Unlike many other games of of this variety the Ninjas are not falling from the sky but instead they travel around a kind of track. If they manage to get to the end of the track it is game over. As well as the standard coloured Ninjas there are a few 'special' ones such as multicoloured ones which you can fire at any other Ninja to help in their destruction.

The game is smooth and colourful and overall worth the price tag of $1.99 in my opinion, however the good news is that there is a free version too so maybe give that one a try first. Juminja is available for all BlackBerry smartphones however I think it would only provide a good experience on a touch screen device so maybe you Bold 9900/9790 and Torch owners should stick to this one.

Looking for something new to play on your favorite BlackBerry device to pass some free time before a meeting or while waiting for an important phone call? Ximad has been on a tear lately, pumping out updates, porting their games, and they have recently released Brain Cube Reloaded for BlackBerry devices. Usually I am pretty particular about my gaming choices, and after watching the rather interesting trailer that Ximad provided for this game I knew I had to check it out.

Brain Cube Reloaded is a free game available for the BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry devices running OS 5 or above. The concept of the game is simple, you need to "roll" the cube figure around the map to get it to the green landing zone which allows you to move on to the next level. Sure, it may sound pretty simple but you can only move up and down as well as left and right, making navigating some of the levels a pretty difficult task. Each level gets increasingly harder, adds extra things that needs to be done, and makes navigating the map way more difficult, but it is fun at the same time. I love that you can pause the game if need be, and you won't lose your spot when you resume. The game is available through BlackBerry App World as a free download, so be sure to hit the link below and check it out for yourself.

If you're looking for a fun game to pass the time then you should give Space Blast by XIMAD INC a try. Yes it's another bubble game and is a variation of their popular offering Bubble Birds but here the action takes place in space (to save humanity) rather than in the jungle. I don't normally play a lot of games on my BlackBerry, I'd much rather enjoy the bigger screen of my PlayBook, but I'd thought I'd give it a try.

Game play doesn't veer too far off from the original: players must match three or more balls of the same color to remove them from the field and score as many points as possible to top the scoreboard. Special bonus spheres form obstacles such as asteroids or ice comets, act as helpers by changing the ball to the color you need, or even set off a nuclear bomb to help clear the board. While the concept is the same, I do like how they've updated it with a new look and feel. 

Overall Space Blast is an entertaining game that offers amazing graphics and sound, and runs smoothly on my BlackBerry. It kept me occupied during my six hour plane ride from New York to Las Vegas. However, I must warn you that the app size is ~5MB. Space Blast is $1.99 in BlackBerry App World and is compatible with most BlackBerry devices running OS5 and higher but is not available for the Torch 9850/60 or the Style 9670. For a limited time, Ximad is offering the full version with all levels absolutely FREE.

Puzzle games are great for keeping your mind sharp, and I always have a few on my BlackBerry to keep me occupied during idle times. XIMAD has released a new game called Droplets 2.0 that is both challenging and entertaining. Set in the rainforest, your task is to clear all of the water droplets from the playing board. Don't get the ladybugs wet, and watch the timer as it counts down! There are 100 levels to play through, each with increasing difficulty, so there's plenty to keep your brain busy.

Ninjas! Pandas! Ninjas and pandas!! XIMAD is on a role lately with games for BlackBerry smartphones and their latest free game has just been released. Ninja Breakout is a classic shooter game. You are the panda, fighting off the ninjas as they fall from the sky. Clear them out, and you progress to the next level. Of course, there are special power ups along the way to help you out, as well as obstacles to be overcome so you may get at those pesky ninjas. As to be expected from XIMAD games, the Japanese inspired sounds, music, and graphics are bright and detailed, and game play has no lag. With 40 levels of play, this game will entertain you for quite some time.

Ninja Breakout is free and ad supported. However, if you'd like to remove the ads, you may do so via in-app purchase. This is a first for XIMAD, as they usually just offer up a free and paid version. I like this new streamlined method. This way you always know what you're getting before purchasing, without having to search first to see if there is a trial or ad supported version first. The ads don't hinder game play at all, and in fact are only seen when you complete a level, before continuing to the next. If you're into bubble shooter style games, then XIMAD has just what you are looking for.
