When it comes to my devices, I'm never without a case or some form of protection. On the first day the BlackBerry PlayBook came out, I refused to use the neoprene sleeve included in the box. As I've dropped, banged, and dented every BlackBerry that's come across my path, there was no way I would let serious harm befall my precious. Just the thought of seeing a scratch or a cracked screen would be enough to drive me over the edge. As I take my PlayBook with me to work every day, there are all sorts of potential hazards that could occur while commuting. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is a sexy device, I'm sure most would agree. That's why I prefer to carry it around as is with no case but this is not always the best for me as I tend to drop it. So, is means I need a case and I've used a few over time but eventually I take it off as I miss the naked feel of the device. This meant I had to look at other ways of protecting my BlackBerry from scratches and drops. I'd been seeing and hearing a lot about full body protection for devices and thought I'd give it a try. I have used dozens of sat nav apps over the years on smartphones but have never found a great one for BlackBerry, until now! Taking all the others into consideration there are two main things I look for when deciding if the app is for me or not. The first is ease of use and the second is how aesthetic it is. Maybe the latter of the two is not as important for everyone but I'm kind of fussy and like things to look pretty.

One thing to remember about Telmap Navigator is that the maps are not stored on your device but downloaded as required, so if you have no network coverage you may run into problems. On the upside this means that the app won't take up a load of space on your BlackBerry. Luckily for Telmap Navigator both my requirements have been fulfilled and I'm as happy using Telmap on the BlackBerry as I have been using Tom Tom or CoPilot on iOS and Android.

Whenever I have an early start I have to set an alarm to wake me up, as I’m sure quite a lot of you do. I am also one for snoozing in the morning once I hear the alarm go off. Usually, I’ll snooze for about half an hour before I know I really should wiggle my toes, shake my legs and get up before I end up being late. The Games folder on my BlackBerry PlayBook is continuingly growing as I discover new games in App World or by word of mouth or via our own CrackBerry website. The newest game added to my collection is Ode to Gravity. The aim of the game is to gather the same coloured blocks together in order to remove them. It sounds a lot harder than you think. I’ve always been fascinated with certain languages, more so no that I’m older. Learning in school was boring and trying learn as an adult is a bit challenging, though I don’t think it needs to be. In the past I’ve picked up some of those books with CDs, those can be quite fun as takes you away from the boring, mundane business of learning grammar rules that you get taught in schools. Looking back at how I learned to understand and speak my parents native language (tagalog), I never had to write things down or learn grammar rules. Simply by listening to them have conversations or even speak to me, I would slowly pick up what certain words meant. At the beginning I didn’t necessarily know what the whole sentence meant word for word but I did understand what they were telling me. And I eventually learnt how to answer them back in tagalog as opposed to english. That takes me to the Learn series from S4BB. A few months ago I took a look at Learn French, this time I’ve been learning Chinese. Keep reading to take a closer look at the app.

"The Case-Mate Tough Case offers heavy duty protection in a lightweight stylish design"

One of the first things I do when purchasing a new BlackBerry smartphone is pick up a case. So it's no surprise that over the years I've accumulated quite a few. "The Seidio ACTIVE Case offers great protection for those who have an active lifestyle"

I have a love/hate relationship with cases on my BlackBerry devices. One because I love the naked feel of them, especially the BlackBerry Bold 9900. However, I’m a klutz and prone to dropping my phone a lot so there’s a need for me to get a case to avoid getting scratches or dents on my BlackBerry phone. One of the most addicting games I have on my BlackBerry device is Xploding Boxes by Ebscer, so addicting that I also got it for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Ebscer have now released a new game that is just as addicting -- Runaway Trains for the PlayBook. It’s a simple concept but you can find yourself getting carried away and losing ‘track’ of time.

I use my BlackBerry often to snap pictures day to day. I wouldn't call myself a photographer but I like to snap photos of my cats and anything interesting that catches my eye. I also like to try out photo editing apps. Whlie there are many to be found within App World, only a few stay on my device. One photo editing app I have found to be a favourite of mine is the popular photo editing app from Pepper.pk. The Photo Editor app has updated recently and has been improved to given a new name too. The update brings us to version 3 and is now called Photo Editor Extreme. It brings with it a few new features including Doodle and BBM integration.

I finally got myself a Bold 9900 a few weeks ago, and to my surprise (as with many others) the battery life didn't stand up to what I am used to with BlackBerry. No matter how hard I try I really cannot make any device I own last a full and complete day any more. My BlackBerry Bold 9780 comes close but it's just not enough. I really don't like the idea of running out of juice when I need it most. For some folks carrying a spare battery is the ultimate option but given that I often have a few devices that I make use of, I was looking for something that would be compatible with them all.

I finally decided to give the Ventev PowerCELL a try as it includes several connectivity options, most of which are compatible with all the devices I own. After having used it for a while now, I'm glad to say I no longer fumble around with multiple batteries and chargers. I simply deal with one battery, for all devices and top each one up as I need to.
