About the Team: The Chicago Red Stars were a founding member of WPS - Womens Professional Soccer in 2008. They played two seasons (2009 and 2010) in WPS. In 2011, through a reformed ownership group, they joined WPSL where they won the Midwest Conference and subsequently hosted and participated in the Championship match, only to fall in OT. In 2012, the Red Stars are members of WPSL Elite, where they are joined by other former WPS and WPSL elite teams. About the Coaching: Rory Dames is the returning Head Coach of the Chicago Red Stars for the 2012 season. He is assisted by John DeJulio and Trae Manny.
Type of Players: The Red Stars roster consists of former WPS players, players from the WNT U-20 and U-23 teams, and collegiate stars from across the country.
Local Colleges: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Louisville, Notre Dame, Northwestern, West Virginia, Wisconsin, UCLA, Clemson, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Florida, Florida State, Trinity and others.
