Videogame collection sells for £783,000 on eBay

An expansive game collection has netted its owner €999,999.99 (£793,000/$1,231,500) through what is likely a landmark eBay auction for videogames.

The collection includes every game released for: Famicom (NES); Virtual Boy; Super Famicom (SNES); N64 (included DD64 releases); Gamecube; EU and Japanese Master System; Game Gear; Megadrive; 32X; Mega CD; Dreamcast; PC Engine Hucard, Supergrafx, CD, Super CD and Arcade CD; PC-FX; and Pioneer Laseractive.

Many of the collections remain factory sealed (something we couldn't resist rectifying if the collection was heading to Edge towers). While it won't remain indefinitely, the original listing can still be viewed, along with detailed photos of the entire collection.

The auction was won by an anonymous buyer, who also forked out €1000 (£793/$1,231) for shipping.

:o
Just read the auction... at least I can relax in the knowledge that I'm not missing out on the actual gaming, as the majority of the collection was unplayably wrapped in cellophane. Still, it will be a wonderful sight to behold for the new owner.

I assume it has been bought either by a (game)playboy millionaire or a museum of sorts. I'm hoping the latter.

A completist's paradise - OCD clearly alive and well in videogameland!
I really hope that this goes on public display of some kind - but my bet is that it's a big name or studio in games, movies or comics who bought this.
