Rockstar on Red Dead Redemption 2: "stay tuned"

But "we have not decided" about L.A. Noire, Bully sequels

Grand Theft Auto 5 and Max Payne 3 are Rockstar's focal points for the near-future, but the studio hasn't forgotten about Western sandboxer Red Dead Redemption - or for that matter swanky detect 'em up L.A. Noire and Just-William-meets-Hollyoaks escapade Bully.

"Awesome, we love Red Dead too," gushes a Q&A; on Rockstar Newswire, "and are thrilled that so many of you loved John Marston's tale and are excited for more epic Western action.

"As we mentioned in our last set of Asked & Answereds to similar questions about the future of other game franchises like Bully and L.A. Noire, we don't always rush to make sequels but that does not mean that we won't get to them eventually. Stay tuned for further announcements about the future of the Red Dead series."

Of L.A. Noire sequels, Rockstar had this to say in February: "there won't be any more DLC or additional content for the current release of L.A. Noire (we're all too busy working on Max Payne 3, GTAV and other games to come), don't count out the possibility of a new game in the L.A. Noire franchise in the future.

"We simply have not decided anything. We're all very pleased with how that game turned out and are considering what the future may hold for L.A. Noire as a series."

And Bully? Once again, never say never. "We absolutely love that over 5 years later, we're still seeing so much enthusiasm for Bully," notes a third post. "We really love Bully ourselves and may also make a sequel at some point."

Which would you rather play first - Red Dead Redemption 2, L.A. Noire 2 or Bully 2? I'm game for some more Bully, myself. In fact, I'm going to take this as my cue to invest in the Xbox 360 version.

Here are seven things we want from Red Dead Redemption 2.

  1. Didn't Rockstar close R* Vancouver about two days ago? How does that effect Bully 2?

Definately up for RDR2 since I'm in the middle of replaying RDR at the moment, and planning on following that up with Bully from GoD.

  2. Definitley would love to see another RDR.Bully as well eventhough i haven't finished the first one yet, lol.LA Noire maybe if they did things a bit different and did it in house.Wow given what GTA V is looking like any game especially RDR 2 or Bully would be amazing on that engine.

I would welcome a Red Dead Redemption 2 I loved the first, shame I could not drag my friends behind me with a laso over the cliff.

Looks like they've offerred the staff jobs but over 2,000 miles from where they were based. Be interesting to see how many decide to take up the offer.

  8. Bully 2 would be my choice. I feel that the smaller world shown there had more depth than the sprawling, but ultimately empty, worlds their other games have. The style of the game was so different to anything else out there too. Keep the style the same, give more lessons to go to, more side plots to play with, more mini-games to find... Basically more of everything but in the same sized world and the whole game becomes a great little toybox.

  9. Oh Yes! Much more Red Dead please.

In my mind, RDR is the finest game of this generation. I can't understand the trolling that Rockstar get to be honest. All of their output this gen has been excellent. I include L.A. Noire in that. A publisher being brave enough to release an adventure game (even one disguised as a sandboxer) today, deserves praise.

  10. I'd rather have another RDR than GTA 5 to be honest. Maybe it could be a prequel showing Marston as an outlaw.

Almost as much as Clanger loved his Donkey!

    >Git!<

I do like the R* approach to sequels in that they're never guaranteed and they'll be released only when ready, but please please please can they do Bully next (I'm sure R* devs regularly log onto OXM to take such requests), we haven't had one since last gen as the one on 360 was only really a tarted up re-release!! :(

More RDR also very welcome :D

  12. More RDR . Yup. ! But when and where would it be set? If i recall RDR finished close to the 20thC. I wouldn't like the next RDR to go like CofJ The Cartel with automobiles and auto weapons. Devs, please keep the western scenario - maybe bring in the indians?? Or down Mexico way with the federales ,bandidos, etc. Yaw Yaw Yaw. Someone suggested John Marston's early years! Yep Why not????? GO FOR IT !!! It'll be a bestseller !!!!!

  13. I really hope they make RDR2, LA Noire 2 and Bully 2 - all unique and amazing games.

  14. Dead R*, it's the 3rd game in the series, not the second. Just because Red Dead Redemption was hugely successful doesn't mean that Red Dead Revolver never existed. How about showing a teeny bit of creativity and coming up with a better name rather than just slapping a 2 on it. Heck, it's not like it's going to star the same main character after all.
