Best Xbox 360 games: the most incredible soundtracks

Songs to save the universe by

Come, Conan - what is best in life? Surely it is to be tasked with assembling a list of the finest gaming soundtracks, surfing aural rainbows of Youtube footage to pluck tender, rousing or sobering hymns from the internet's mighty gizzard. But hush, Conan! Though all-conquering, your words are needless here. From this point on, our ears will do the talking. Erm.

I've picked two songs per soundtrack to illustrate the awesome. You're more than welcome to post links of your own in the comments, or in our prosperous forum music recommendations thread. Enjoy.

1. Bastion

2. Red Dead Redemption

  1. I'd agree with a few of them, probably switch in the Snake Eater theme, and the deus ex HR soundtrack for original music, and gta SA for best selection of songs.

Skyrim was king of your picks in my view.

  2. I would agree with most of them as well.Prefer SA or GTA IV soundtrack though than vice city being the eighties, lol.I would also have added one of the Tony Hawk games, great music on them, plus the HD one out soon has some of the original music.Would add one of the Burnout games as well especially Revenge.

As too Bethesda games love the music in Oblivion and Fallout 3.

  3. What's this? Sit and Dream? More like Jingle Jangle Jingle. I'd keep Big Iron though.

I'd replace Mass Effect 3 one for Mass Effect 1's Virmire Battle. Probably my favourite mission and soundtrack throughout all three games.

Also why no "Build that Wall" for Bastion?

  4. Several of these I've been forced to download after playing the game (No Rest For The Wicked is a great driving song) but I'd also throw in Saints Row 2. Had a collection of songs to rival any GTA but with the added ability to create a play list. Bought several albums as a result of that game.

And seriously guys, Vice City had a much better sound track then San Andreas (maybe that's just my age) and I never once found a track I liked on GTA4, one of the main reasons I disliked it as a game.

  5. No offence to anyone but i just can't stand eighties rock and all the hairspray, perms, lol.

GTA IV has some good tracks,Bob Marley,Marvin Gaye. Some good hip hop and rock tracks as well as LCHC although better on the Lost and Dammed.

I would rather insert red hot needles into my gentials than listen to Hip Hop.

And we had to use all that hairspray, otherwise the Ozone layer would have recovered!

  7. Mass Effect 1's music was wonderful!!

  8. GtaIVs stations terrible

Integrity 2.0 is the best radio station, it's Lazlows station and only opens up when you cross the bridges. Hilarious. Then there's the talk show one, with the Judge. Argh they're so awesome! Like WCTR but better.

As for radio, it wasn't the best selection - but Journey, LCHC, the jazz one, were all brilliant, and Liberty rock got shed loads better after the add ons, but without they still had the Smashing Pumpkins. Tuff gong was great reggae too.

I've spent ages with IV, and the stations were shit when I first played, now after playing SA too I'd say IV has the best because it introduced me to more music, whereas VC and SA had hits we all knew.

  9. Dam you Ed, now I have to stop trying to do college work and go play fallout. Fallout games have the best music ever, although I think fallout 3 takes it.

I don't want to set the world on fire, I just want to start a flame in your heart..... Great stuff

  10. This is still one of my favourite tracks from Fallout 3,The Inkspots set the tone of the game brilliantly. :D

    Don't forget Butcher Pete.

I have to say I liked Fallout 3's track list alot more than NV's also. But I did like that the whole NV tracklist seemed great as it was all a mix of west country stuff and some jazz, which was fitting for the setting of the game.

I am really loving the tracks I am hearing in the Silent Hill HD collection so far and some of it is great for the horror atmosphere.

  12. Yeah i would have said SH on the list, really adds to the atmosphere of the games.

  13. Great choices. As well as these, I also love Saints Row 2 and The Third's soundtrack mainly for their 80s music. GTA IV and its expansions have the best music though, just for Liberty Rock Radio.

  14. Don't forget Butcher Pete.

Not to mention the brilliant "Let's Go Sunning" and "Civiliz(S  )ation".

  15. this list needs more Nobuo Uematsu. The single greatest composer for videogames ever.
