Borderlands 2 Special Editions contain 870 gajillion treats

Marcus bobblehead, DLC, artbooks and a replica Loot Chest

Not to be outdone by the Spartan-powered Halo 4 Limited Edition, Gearbox has released first details and pictures of two Borderlands 2 specials - the Deluxe Vault Hunter Collector's Edition and the Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition. This being Borderlands, we were expecting a colourful contents list, and a colourful contents list is what we've been given. Batten down your saliva glands before continuing.

Deluxe Vault Hunters get a Marcus Kincaid bobble head (hail to the bus driver and so forth), a hardbound art book, map of planet Pandora, comic book download and four stickers.

Ultimate Looters get all that too, plus an exclusive SteelBook case, a certificate of ownership, a chart covering the game's bestiary and four lithograph postcards, all tucked away in one of the game's iconic Loot Chests.

Why let words do the talking, when we have pictures? Check it. The game arrives on UK shores on 21st September. Wondering what the fuss is about? 1. I've heard rumours about day 1 DLC of a fifth playable character. Any word on whether it's a freebie for people buying new or is it paid for?

  2. Not heard anything on that front myself, but I'll dig for it when I've got a moment.

Not sure if it's 100% reliable.

EDIT: Yup, that character is legit. Follow the link at the bottom of your article and set your pre-order region to the US. The new class is part of the USA's premiere club. Hope we get that in the UK as well.

  4. Ta for the heads-up!

It strikes me that there's a lot they could set aside for DLC in BL2. This is the ultimate loot game, after all.

I heard it was not a rumour and not day one dlc, they released the info a while back and they are going to release it free post-launch for those that pre-order. That link suggests pre-order only for ultimate/special editions, which would be a shame.

  6. I read about it in Xbox World's BL2 article but they didn't have many details beyond it being DLC. Hope it does turn out to be available for regular editions as what little I've heard about the character sounds cool. If nothing else it's a second female which will cheer my girlfriend up. Looks a bit like my girlfriend as well.

  7. Simply because no-one else has pointed this out yet: This special edition is looking f***king awesome. I need that treasure box in my house. NEED.

  8. If I remember rightly the Mechromancer isn't a day one DLC, I think it'll be a few months after a release - it was still just a concept when it was announced. England has actually got the premier club pre-order thing at the moment, I think most of the major online retailers are doing it.

I'm actually going to splash out on the Loot Chest edition because of my little Borderlands obsession, so I'm desperately waiting for them to get the pre-orders for it up over here.
