Senior Java Developer

Chicago, IL   July 2012

We are seeking to hire a talented and energetic Senior Java Developer to join our growing technology department as a Sr. project lead.  The ideal candidate for this position will be comfortable with all aspects of the software lifecycle with a concentration on back-end (but has front-end) experience, is well-versed in java development in an e-commerce environment, and able to take a leadership role in project execution.

General Responsibilities:

·       Interact with internal business groups to gather requirements for new features and products

·       Design, develop, code, test, document, and support a variety of highly available public websites

·       Commitment to project plan and take accountability of deadline

Required Skills:

·       Bachelors Degree or equivalent

·       Minimum 5 years experience coding J2EE or MVC-framework application

·       Understanding of algorithm analysis and data structures – understand Collections

·       Basic understanding of Design Patterns

·       Ability to follow strict coding standards – always javadoc, always code review

·       Familiarity with browser-server communication, HTTP protocol, and related technologies.

·       Understanding of threads

·       Knowledge of basic RDBMS and JDBC

·       Understanding of the TCP/IP protocol

·       CVS and Eclipse IDE

·       Java JDK 1.5, Servlets, JSP, JDBC

·       XML, XSLT, and DHTML

·       Apache HTTP, Jakarta Tomcat, and Linux

Desired Skills:

·       Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS and MySQL and understanding of JDBC connections (i.e. transactions, cursors, stored procedures)

·       Experience working with Spring and Hibernate frameworks

·       Familiarity with clustered and load-balanced environments

In addition to the required skills and experiences above, candidates must reside in the Chicago metro area, be comfortable working from home, and have the ability, and reliable transportation in order to periodically visit our corporate office headquarters in the North Shore suburbs.
