Senior User Interface Designer

Chicago, IL  July 2012

 


We are seeking an experienced Designer passionate about making software easy to use and visually appealing, with a modern, clean, elegant, and clutter-free visual design aesthetic.



Essential Functions:

·      Create all UI elements of design including all graphical elements, HTML, DHTML and JavaScript code.

·      Able to edit JSP code for proper UI function.

·      Participate in gathering business requirements, make site assessments, and analyze user data through the development of user profiles, scenarios, task models, and feature lists.

·      Translate business needs into product concepts and ideas with a strong emphasis on usability and process efficiency.

·      Create site maps, wireframes, navigation systems, screen prototypes, and conceptual models to clarify and refine products.

·      Collaborate with your team, accept design critique, and iterate on designs.

·      Understand the importance of flexibility and the balance of speed and quality.

·      Understand the technical capabilities of Web and mobile UI platforms.

Technical Requirements:

·      A minimum of five years hands-on experience is essential.

·      An outstanding portfolio of design work.

·      Excellent HTML, DHTML, CSS and JavaScript skills are required.

·      Experienced in JSP editing.

·      Strong familiarity with Fireworks, Photoshop and Illustrator.

·      Excellent visualization skills with the ability to articulate concepts and ideas.

·      Strong orientation toward conceptual modeling with the ability to innovate on process tools and conventions.

·      Responsive Web Design, AJAX, SVG, Ruby on Rails experience is a plus.

 

General Requirements:

·      Self-starter with ability to work under minimal supervision.

·      Excellent communication skills both written and oral are required.

·      Ability to maintain and meet schedules.

·      Excellent organization skills.

·      Detail-oriented individual.

·      Ability to interface with all levels of employees.

·      Fast and agile learner.

 

In addition to the required skills and experiences above, candidates MUST reside in the Chicago metro area, be comfortable working from home, and have reliable personal transportation in order to periodically visit our corporate office headquarters in the North Shore suburbs.
